For the past few days, I haven’t been able to communicate with my teammates. I can see their icon pop up in the top left corner when they’re talking, but I can’t actually hear them. I’ve adjusted the voice chat volume, and I’ve reinstalled the game. Still nothing. I can hear people just fine on discord, so I don’t think it’s my mic or speakers. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hi LunaZuna,
Have you by chance tried checking the Volume Mixer in Windows after launching Overwatch? If you run the game then alt+tab out to the desktop you can right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray to find the Volume Mixer. Make sure that Overwatch sound is turned up there and not muted.
The other thing that could be causing it might be another program conflicting with the voice chat. Try rebooting with Selective Startup which will shut down other processes and services, so that you just have Overwatch running.
Updating my post:
Seems going into your Start Menu > Settings (the cogwheel) > Privacy > App Permissions > Microphone > and then Allowing apps to access your Microphone fixes the issue, at least it did for me and another person who posted a day ago with the same issue. You don’t even need to allow any of the listed apps access. It just as to be flipped to On for whatever reason. Fixed my mic, and I could now hear people again in team chat.
Hope this helps!
Holy crap, that worked, thanks! I tried everything else I could think of and was getting really frustrated, especially in comp. Thanks, bud!
JFC thank you, Mimiron! I haven’t been able to hear anyone all season til now. You’re the best. <3
yeah dude omg u just helped me !! now i cant open overwatch anymore !! it charshes !! thanx dude !! you are very smart !
Where are those settings? i didnt find it, not in the battle.net or in overwatch or my battle account page…
those settings are going to be accessed via the start menu of your computer, AKA your windows button. Just find the Settings for Windows, then Privacy, and scroll down to microphone and you’ll find the settings you’re looking for.
this fixed the problem perfectly.
