Can picking a certain hero be considered toxic?

In another thread, I had this very respectful debate, and it caused some doubt.
So, the guy is claiming (from what I understood) that if you pick a hero that doesn’t favour your current comp or negatively affects your comp, it’s throwing and it’s reportable. For example, your team is doom, tracer, genji, and you play illari and can’t heal properly, it can be considered as throwing from you and it’s reportable.

Now I completely disagree with this statement, but being in the top 1% elite members of this forum that actually considers themselves to a probability of being wrong, I want to ask about your opinions as well.

Let’s say you are ball in a poke team, like hanzo, ashe, mercy, ana. But you are not throwing, you are trying your best, and you are fulfilling the role, even though, your team would definitely enjoy more Sigma. Is this throwing and against tos?

Not talking about purposely throwing but talking about your team thinking that your hero is making them all lose.

For the record, before I get attacked again :smiling_face_with_tear:, I am almost never picking heroes that don’t fit my team’s archetype.

I mean since the report system is automated and there aren’t clear guidelines, and since it’s up to the players to decide what they will report you for, some weird people will report you for that maybe. But in my opinion, not reportable. I would never report someone for the hero they picked, I’d rather have someone play something that they are comfortable with in comp even if it’s not the perfect overwatch league ready team comp. As long as people are trying on whatever hero they picked, good teammate.

If it’s comp I’m gonna pick who I’m best at. I feel like we’re more likely to lose if I pick a “meta” hero or whatevers part of some pre-defined comp than just playing who I understand. I mean, the other day I was screamed at to switch to Sombra… I have played since 2016 and have about 1 hour on Sombra through that entire time. I don’t think that’s gonna work much better

Not reportable (or at least it shouldn’t be), but seeing my co-support pick Illari with divers is one of my least favorite situations. I would never report them; I just continue on with a feeling of dread and impending suffering

Toxic? No.

Stupid? Yes.

Imo as a support, I always pick my hero last in order to do my job (support my team). I cannot do that if I have picked Mercy and our tank is WB, and DPS are two flankers. It’s not reportable, it’s not toxic, it’s not throwing, but it absolutely is flat out stupid and any support who just picks what they want whenever they want has no right to cry about losing games.

It is a team based game and the entire team shares the responsibility. You do not get to just single out a player and demand they swap to your pick. If you are such a flexible team player and the entire team cares about winning, you flex to my pick, homie. You are the one that cares, it is your burden to swap… Obviously. This should be common sense. The majority does not rule anything.

With Moira you need to be 10x better than everyone else in lobby to get an endorsement so yeah, it can be considered toxic people just be hating.
