Did you really expect that everyone that signs up gets an invite?
Yeah it sucks if you didn’t get one. I didn’t get one either.
Yes, I am a loyal player with almost 1.9k hours in the game, who kept playing even during the dry period of the last few years.
I have voiced my negative opinions on here a few times, so no, I am not a ‘bootlicker’ or whatever you want to throw at me.
I am simply someone who knows how to handle expectations.
Of course streamers, game journalists and pro players are more likely to get invites. They aren’t even in the automated beta sign up selection, but rather have been selected by Blizz directly.
That’s how marketing works.
There have been posts by players that they or their friends have gotten into the beta already, players of probably varying skill levels.
There is no conspiracy that only the best of the best get in. You simply didn’t make it. I would be surprised if 1% of the beta sign ups got in.
At least they are providing an opportunity for everybody to get in, even if it’s annoying.
And if you don’t make it, there will be more betas in the future.

People think if they spend like 10,000 hours, have the highest rank, spend all day every day playing, spend tons of money on the game that it gives them the privilege of being in something like this, but realistically, it’s probably just automated to allow a certain amount of people to become part of it because I doubt they’re going to do that manually outside of the content creators etc.

We handle “expectations” based on what Blizzard shows us. They made big announcements about beta, they made a big show of the date it was happening, they made a big deal about “signing up”, which as we are seeing probably meant nothing.
So yeah, people are going to make a big deal about getting lied to YET AGAIN by these devs. We’re going to make a big deal that this ended up being more marketing crap for watching streamers in twitch instead of it being about that actual game and the actual players.

I wish to remind everyone, invites are still being rolled out today and will take several hours. Even if you do not get one from opt-in, you can 100% guarantee one by participating in tomorrow’s Twitch promotion.

I think it’s better for someone with 10000 hours to get into the beta than someone with 100 hours.

Reads the title.
Of course not. They will resort to their degan ways, like they always do here.

many many many people got in
So there is still a chance to still get it?
Yes there is. It may just take a long time.
I wish it were only people with ten million hours of gametime who moaned about not getting a beta invite, that way there’d be less of it.

Yes. Invites are rolling out slowly… just keep checking.

Why? someone with a high amount of hours may not be as active for a while since the content drought, meanwhile someone who has 100 hours could be a newer player from this year/Christmas that has been playing a lot at weekends or after school
I don’t really care that I didn’t get invited, I can just watch the stream tomorrow. Buuuuut, they should have given out beta invites ahead of time and allowed people to pre-download the game so they could play when it launches.

I think the issue is that the notice about the whole twitch thing is so last minute. It is also does not help that the twitch thing is a day late. Otherwise, I don’t think people would mind as much.
They should have just done these emails earlier to avoid the drama. It was boneheaded to leave people waiting in hope.
Imagine if we all knew a week ago whether we got in or not. Not the day of.

Will the Beta servers be able to welcome that many players at the same time (after the 4-hour stream watching access) ?
Will there be long queues to connect to the servers ? Will they crash at some point ?
Thanks in advance if you can share some info.
do invite roll every hour or how does it work ?
the beta servers are definetly going to crash
either that or everyone is going to be put on queue like it happens with normal OW sometimes to make it so they dont crash
