It was stated at blizzcon online that 2 cp is very likely to not be making a return for OW2, and last I heard I believe the dev’s said over a year ago now that no progress had been made on Paris and Horizon’s changes since they said they were going to change them.
Each time I am put into Paris especially people groan there is usually 2-3 people who gripe that they got the map. I personally just leave both maps as they I never enjoy playing on them, as do many others hence the gripes and complaining each time one of the two maps comes up.
That is not to say that some people don’t like the maps, i’m such a niche part of the community does, but it could still be accessible via the game browser if one wanted to visit the map rather than have a match which is almost always having several leavers (myself included recently.) in it making the game even more lopsided.
The map wasn’t suitable for comp so I don’t know why they left it in QP.
Horizon isn’t as bad but Paris is an abomination of a map. Every game has MULTIPLE leavers.
Push is literally replacing 2CP in ranked. Hopefully they do away with 2CP in the QP modes as well, that isn’t confirmed either way yet.
I agree. Horizon is alright in small doses, though I still don’t really prefer it as defending and attacking on the map are, in my opinion, just not fun. It isn’t as bad though you’re definitely right on that front.
Just here to leave you a heart.
Overwatch team should take a note from the HotS team’s playbook: remove problem maps from rotation, rework them, put them back in. They did it with Hanamura in HotS and perma-removed the Mines map.
Well, i’m starting to think this is needed. So many leavers so might as well remove those two maps
Just loaded into Paris. 3 people immediately left.
I was the 4th.
Or just implement map selection so i dont ever have to play those maps. Its the best compromise
QP is a joke anyway since the match is one-sided.
Jeff confirmed that 2CP will be gone forever in OW2
I like both of these maps. 2cp is my favorite. I can’t stand control which feels more like a cod free for all than a team based game mode. If Nepal could be deleted, that would be great
No
Its free priority queue for those that don’t get triggered by a map.
Regardless of your feelings for these maps, it’s miserable to play on them for one reason:
People leave as soon as they see it’s Paris or Horizon.
I often find my matches spending a minute trying to find players for my team because people leave immediately. And by the time people stay, the game’s started, attackers have already taken point 1, and now someone else left.
It’s not about map design. It’s about the bad behaviors they’re spreading in players.
No No no No.
I really enjoy these two maps.
Aww yay, validation!
It’s tricky to get full custom games using the standard ruleset, sadly.
… But Paris is one of my favorite maps
Well, not long now, we just wait for Overwatch 2 and those will leave along with the rest that apparently nobody complains about despite nearly identical design.
I understand it’s fun for you and the person below you, Voss, but I would argue for most people either attacking or defending it can be a hassle. Especially in quickplay where it’s so disorganized. Even more so than comp by the very nature of it.
I mentioned as you saw that a custom game would probably be the best way to experience these maps because:
- As you are no doubt aware most people dislike these maps.
- You all communicating on a strategy, which is a much more needed approach rather than just slap some heroes together and see what happens, would make those maps (especially Paris in my opinion) alot more fun.
I am parroting other people who have more insight into the game than I do after also having a multitude of frustrating games on both maps.
That isn’t to say the aesthetic of both maps aren’t good though. Paris is a gorgeous map and horizon definitely gives off the in space vibe. I simply want them to be more fun to play on as well as look at.
Interesting take considering people are leaving BECAUSE of map design. So how can it not be about map design? Bad behaviour is more about people who leave just because they lost first point. I leave instantly to give max time for the MM to find someone else. I don’t think that’s bad behaviour when Blizz knows how unpopular these maps are, and removed them from comp because of it, but still keep them in QP. Not only that, but they seem to appear more in QP than pure chance should dictate. Like Blizz has said “screw you for complaining” and up’d their probability.
I thought that was just me. I get King’s Row like once and Paris about 5 times as much with Horizon lagging a bit behind that. That could also be attributed to people leaving the map so there are backfills but either way the map does show more often than others giving the feel that it is being pushed to play more often by the algorithm.
