Just wondering if that’s why we lost this 6v6 Comp match or not: 3XD0C9
I am honestly paying no attention to the fact that one of our DPS had 23 deaths compared to everyone else’s 9, 10, or 11. We actually lost it 2-3 in overtime so I think it may have been winnable? It’s just that I got very distracted trying to fight an aggressive Moira who was trying to kill me at the very end and once again frantically pinging her. I have a feeling I was wasting my time, and I could have just ignored her instead, continued focusing on important things, and been perfectly fine
Just play Zenyatta if there’s a dps Moira on the other team. The goal is to spend as little time as possible on dealing with Moira. Discord orb renders her self heal next to useless
I promise you this team would have crumbled even faster with Zen heals. The Moira wasn’t an issue for 99% of the match anyway, just that part at the very end
The difference between offensive pressure between the 2 teams was way too big. So many fights on attack were lost on last point just because of this. Running Mercy Moira Lifeweaver on Havana is not the play. One of you could’ve played tank on last point.
First 2 points on defense were just a feed fest.
Last point on defense again the difference in offensive pressure is too much. The reason for your team is falling apart is the enemy dps had very little pressure on them at most times. Zenyatta especially is very good at dealing with the bastion.
So I’ll take that as a yes, I was wasting my time trying to duel the Moira. I could have been melting the rest of her team instead since she wasn’t focused on healing them (Weaver is also very very good at melting Bastions)
And by extension of the same logic, yes, Zen could have worked too as long as I could stay alive
Also beginning to wonder if I should have used my last tree on the attack round to keep people alive instead of trying to save it to block the door again (and ending up never using it at all). Not using it to block that very same door cost me a match once, so I may be a little too stubborn in saving it for that purpose now
I try not to ever judge my teammates’ performance cause everyone has bad days, but 23 deaths is genuinely so excessive I’d start to question whether they were deliberately throwing.
In any case, to give a short answer to the question posed in the title, yes. I’ve done it plenty of times. I’m pretty sure Lifeweaver’s raw damage per second is the highest of all support heroes, so it’s just a matter of having the mechanical skill to win those duels. Whether or not engaging in such duels is a good idea depends on the situation of course.
Now, I haven’t played a single competitive match in about a year, and not a single comp match as support specifically in almost 2, and although I have 100+hrs on Lifeweaver, he’s not my most played support, so take the following advice with a grain of salt:
Looking at that last fight, I think the tree was premature. The Moira had just started her Coalescence, and your teammates were all at full health. Also I’d have placed the tree more out of the enemy’s line of sight, so they couldn’t melt it as fast as they ended up doing. Afterwards when the Moira goes for your Mercy, I think your Life Grip on the Mercy was also premature. She was well above half health, and not in any danger of actually dying to the Moira. I think it became apparent that the Moira wasn’t dying after she faded away from you, so I’d have switched my focus over to the objective to help out your tanks who were struggling, especially since the Mercy also used Valkyrie to keep you alive against the Moira, so she’d have essentially been doing nothing in your backline if you had just ignored her.
Overall, I’d say that in this situation dueling the Moira was not the play to go for, unless you’re super confident in your aim and can take her out very fast after she’s used her fade.
Anyway, as I said, I haven’t played comp in forever, so take that advice while keeping that in mind. Good luck on your grind! I look forward to seeing you reach your next peak rank, and beyond, which I know you will
Yes.
Use you petal, Moira’s beam is so wide a Braindead Moira will attack it over you because it cannot be helped Mechanically. Against a competent Moira actually board your platform and attack from above.
Land your headshots and you will out damage her in no time.
Yes. If you hit your headshots you can easily kill her.
Don’t strafe if she’s by herself - she won’t miss, and you will only make aiming harder for yourself.
Moira has some of the lowest dps in game just gets high kill numbers from orb assists. If you have decent tracking lifeweaver can easily 1v1 her. With rejuvenating dash, lifeweaver actually has better matchup against her than most since most of her solo kills comes from dive/surprise attacks. If youre struggling to 1v1 a moira honestly i would suggest stop moving and just focus on tracking since she doesnt have to really aim anyway she will always outtrack you.
He does, at least while firing. With Superbloom it’s even higher
So this is definitely another tilt case then. Getting severely tilted, panicking, being hasty, and tunnel visioning
Numbers-wise it does make sense, but in my experience she seems weirdly tanky with her 30 HPS self-heal on the tickle beam, and my lack of DPS passive (the reason why I say that is because I have no such issue as a DPS). Even when I do land a lot of crits her HP goes down very slowly. If she uses yellow orb on herself then I can just forget about it
Yessss I have heard of this tip before and it makes sense, just it doesn’t seem very often I’m in a situation where I can safely do that
The answer is yes. Ive killed plenty. Its about landing headshots which gets easier by getting close to her. If you let her maintain distance shell dodge your attacks, you wont dodge hers, also dont try to dash asay unless you know she doesnt have fade
Yikes, I’m not going to watch the vid, but all I need to hear is that they were running 3 supports, and two of them were Lifeweaver and Mercy. That’s basically an auto-lose.
LW has a theoric 140dps without counting critical hit. So on paper, a LW can kill Moira.
If you’re harassed by Moira and your mates don’t react at your pings… After 2 or 3 deaths, it would make sense to switch and take care of Moira yourself or to pick a dodgier Supp as Kiriko ie.
You can’t blame mates for not reacting if you’re not reacting yourself, ya know ?
