In my games, I haven’t noticed any players use Junkrat to counter him. Can Junkrat’s trap stop Doomfist during a fully charged executed rocket punch?
80% sure Rocket Punch has “priority” over Steel Trap similar to Genji with Swift Strike.
It can, but how exactly does it counter him? It’s one tiny trap and DF has all the mobility in the world to avoid it.
If he punches into it ba accident, sure he’s toast but that chance is too slim to speak of a real “counter”
No it doesn’t
When is the last time you played the game
If the DF goes anywhere near a trap he is going to get caught in it in mid-animation
He gets caught in the trap, just like Reinhardt
The thing is, usually the Doomfist manages to avoid the trap since it’s obvious or the Trap doesn’t get armed in time to stop the Doom from landing the punch on you and killing you
Yeah and i think they’ve specifically patched Gengu dashing over traps ages ago so that he’ll get trapped too.
Both Dooms Punch and Genjis Dash gets them trapped.
I thought a well experienced Junkrat would know the deployment timing of the trap. If Junkrat deploys the trap at the precise moment in the “path” of rocket punch Doomfist would be in trouble.
A JR can stop DF punch, yeah. I use it in FFA.
Hear his charge, plop the trap down, then he will die once focused.
That’s the issue, Junkrat struggles despite the fact he shouldn’t.
There are better DPS than him in most situations.
It can stop his punch, and (more difficult) his slam and uppercut, but only if doomfist is coming after junk *and* junk seems him coming. It can’t help protect teammates very much at all.
yes, it traps him. It’s also very annoying because doomfist moves in a straight line so he can’t avoid the trap once he’s moving in that direction.
Just sayin, it’s easier to hit a stationary target than a moving one.
Oddly, it takes a higher degree of skill and bravery to stand in Doomfist’s rocket punch path to “bait” him into a well timed trap deploy.
Is it too skill intensive to attempt trapping Doomfist with Junkrat?
I played a hundred hours of Junkrat, the shields are annoying, if doomfist is terrible and gets in your back, Junkrat can deal with it. But besides that, break shield, break shield, break shield.
Bastion for the weirdest of reasons is more of a counter to Doomfist and has more value in the current meta sollelly vs Double-barrier. I,ve never ever would have run Bastion a whole map normally, but the meta is unbearable. You gotta either ignore shields or abuse them to gain value, breaking them would require full focus without any shield-breaking heroes.
Junkrat falls in a weird spot at a specific tier in comp, to which he seems to become more inefficient than some other heroes. I also encountered some issues with RP/Trap interaction at times, for whatever reason you do sometimes get hit by the punch if close enough to the trap. So idk man, but I have more success with reaper or mei or even sym vs doomfist, since, you can bait Rp or slow down doomfist.
Next patch with 1.4s RP should make it easier doe…
Junkrat’s trap deploy distance appears to be short. What if Junkrat traps him , but the distance of the trap deploy is so short that he still gets launched into a wall?
I’ve seen him go through them, so I’m not sure. Maybe a bug or down to something else. His rocket punch (RP) is pretty glitchy at times. I remember when it used to RP people to the left and right of it into the wall. Meaning he didn’t even have to land the hit to RP someone. Meh, DF is made of annoying ^^
Maybe for Doomfist to be trapped he must be dead center of it. Skimming the right or left side of the trap yields its destruction?
That’s essentially the problem. It’s not reliable enough, just like half his kit.
Cuz Junkrat in theory should really be capable of outplaying high mobility heroes getting in close quarter, but that like, happens one in a million times in Double-Barrier
So… Only a very skilled Junkrat can do it.
Happy hunting my fellow Overwatch players.
I may try Junkrat too and report my results.
Or a lucky one at times, or the Doomfist is bad, which is frequent in low ranks.
