I’m very new to this game, started playing it this week
I either get teams that get torn to shreds by one good player or play in teams that shred the other team with one player
Both instances are very annoying, I want to play with other new players to learn the ropes of the hero I picked and I also want to land at least ONE hit FFS
The struggle is that there isn’t enough new players to find you a match in a reasonable amount of time.
At least not in quickplay. The learning curve is steep at first but if you stick to it you’ll start improving rapidly.
I can see new accounts being really annoying given the amount of alternate accounts that exist (many of which exist for the sole purpose of making others miserable )
The only way to really address that though is to make it harder to actually make alternate accounts (remove ftp)
But even then you are not going to completely eliminate the issue
Matchmaking never gets better in QP. It was bad on release day and it’s bad now.
You need to try to give it some time. It’s trying to gauge your skill and I think it will get you in proper games eventually. It struggles a lot with new accounts
I say this but will also like the comments from matchmaker skeptics because yea it has problems and has lots more problems with new accounts

If you just started this week, then you both need to wait for the system to adjust your mmr to a more appropriate level, and take some time to learn the game. There are nearly infinite interactions between players that can affect their performance, most notably how many support resources are being pumped into them and the tank providing opportunities for their team to do work. The game has a ton of moving parts, and teamwork is a bunch of them. And the lower your mmr, the less likely you’ll get teams that work together. Just be patient, do some research, and grow over time. And despite what various goons will say, the matchmaker isn’t broken. It does exactly what it’s advertised to do, which is to place players of similar mmr together. The more you play, the more accurate your mmr will be.
This may be coming from me being VERY salty but it seems like some people don’t want new players in this game… Why?
Why ruin the fun for others? Did your mom not hug you as a child?
Hard to tell who is actually new.
its more they dont want them on their team, cause it usually ends up in a loss, its easy to spot a new player when you have xp in the game.
dont take it personally, just stick with the grind and you will end up where you belong, and there is nothing wrong with being where you or anyone else belongs
it wouldnt stop anything in reality as people would just go buy another license
If they remove free to play the game will instantly die. The reputation of the devs is so low people are not willing to pay to play this game. Also they would need to immediately fix their report system because accounts would be getting banned quickly still and having to pay for a new account will immediately deter people from playing anymore.

I agree. I am honestly waiting on MS to start looking at the game and getting their people involved because the balance of the game is all over the place and it is worse than when we were in maintenance for OW2
Sorry. When the game balance is in such terrible shape, people will not be playing at their actual ranks.
The solution is to increase your skill level so that you are less likely to encounter someone better than you. The matchmaking does do a decent job on paper, but this game plays out differently in practice with all the low skill cheese in it.
That’s impossible with so many losses!!!
