Hello, I play on a laptop that I believe has an internal mic, but I use a headset with a mic and prefer to only use that.
How can I disable the internal mic?
Additional info: I ask because I am positive that having both mics causes a problem for other players and also I recently played with a friend who said my voice sounded different compared to playing on a console (using the same mic)
You would disable it in your Wndows sound settings. You can right-click and choose Disable for the built-in mic.

I’m not sure which one I need to disable though. This is an image of what I see under Playback and Recording (this is a link to imgur, not sure where you prefer I upload)

In case you can't click the link to see the image, here's a basic list of what it shows..
Playback:
Speakers
Headphones
Recording:
Microphone Array
Stereo Mix
Can I get any help from here or is it just trial and error? I assume it is the mic array i need to disable but i have no idea
Well this is not an Overwatch issue, it’s a setting on your own computer. You can identify the mic (all mics are on Recording tab) by talking and seeing the bars move.
Just tried everythind and nothing worked. I can confirm that the laptops internal mic is taking priority over my mic
The active mics will absolutely show sound monitoring bars (empty or moving) to the right of them. If you see the bars, it means the mic itself is not disabled. Right-clicking and disabling any mic device will prevent further sound from being picked up. The Overwatch client does not have the ability to re-enable a microphone you have disabled.
Since this is a setting within Windows, and not the Overwatch client, it falls outside the scope of troubleshooting here. I recommend contacting your laptop’s manufacturer if you need assistance with the way they have configured the hardware. You could also reach out to Microsoft for assistance with sound devices.
