A wide variety of heroes to choose from
Literally just 6 heroes i can choose;

Can we at the very least agree that there simply isn’t enough variety in the tank and support roster?

They should improve the UI so it only shows heroes of the category you queued for. Otherwise no I dont find it silly.

agreed we need more supports and tanks. However this will take a really long time so for now you will need to deal with 7 out of 30 characters being playable

Every Tank/Support have very unique traits and shine in different conditions, so I don’t really think it lacks variety.
I expect a lot from the upcoming heroes, but it’s not really a lack of variety.

All supports have twists to them. Half the dps are interchangeable.

And they will likely continue favouring tank and healer for new heroes.

So no it does not, and you are trying too hard

Been saying it for over a year now. We need 7 more tanks and 7 more supports before we get another dps.

At this point my thought is that Ashe was a huge mistake. Not because she’s a bad hero, or OP, or UP, or anything of the sort. But because they wasted a chance to introduce a new hero that was actually needed and brought in one that was absolutely not at a time when more DPS was the last thing we needed.

I like ashe. But with role queue I’m never going to be able to play her ever again.

Oh yes, that’s for sure. Personally, I’m kinda hoping they release a big “expansion” of like 3+ supports and 3+ tanks simultaneously. I know it’s not very likely, but it would just make the game SO MUCH better and might actually persuade some players that never play those roles to do so.

That would definitely be welcome.
The current 2/2/2 format does not allow for much flexibility at all within the tank and support roles.

I agree, being a tank or support main feels like you’re just limiting yourself to only playing 3-6 heroes for no reason, when DPS players have 18 to choose from.

Adding diversity to the tank and support roster would increase the number of players willing to play that role, and with more variety you also create more opportunities for players to find a hero they enjoy and can potentially main.

The problem with variety in supports is there’s only so many ways to support someone. You have to remember overwatch is supposed to be a FPS.

Strangely, not a single MOBA has this problem.

There’s only so many ways you can support someone, if all you allow to qualify as support is healing.

Then again, people will then have to choose between 1 healer and one alternative supporter. The alternative would have to offer something drastically valuable to outweigh healing.

I never said healing did I. I said support. And as a FPS game there’s only so many ways to support without going crazy on immunity and cleansing and debuffs and invincibility and whatnot.

Right, now all we have is turtle watch, bunker or dive. Variety its called.
