I know regular lucioball is confirmed.
But I haven’t been able to play for TWO YEARS. I have a dedicated crew who reinstall OW every year just for COPA.
We always make top 1k every year but it being canceled for OW2’s development last year really hurt. It means the world to us for some reason. It’s like we skipped a holiday.
Shoot I’d love to have it open all year round; but that’s a pipe dream drafted in the deepest of copium.

Every time there has been a Summer Games event, there has been a Lucioball and Copa Lucioball mode. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it would be unexpected for them not to include the competitive variant.
Unfortunately, there were only 3 seasons of Copa Lucioball, as the competitive integrity died in 2020 when they added the “Remix” map obstacles to the competitive mode.

Your words give me hope gamer. On the topic of obstacles I like them as an addition.
I learned to love Busan. Trick shots off pegs made for good content.
That said, it’s clearly the most frustrating for players. Being a goalie and accidentally spiking it on yourself is a learning curve you gotta master. There’s SO much more care that goes into blocking and returning on the 2 maps with obstacles.
EVERYONE will bemoan the goalie pegs when you dunk yourself. But NOBODY cheers for them when they passively block several shots a game.
I’d argue that in practice the pegs block more shots than they return in players own faces. IMO; It’s just the emotional damage from not only failing to do a goalies only job, but scoring on yourself is that much worse.
People log in only to play Lucio Ball? Oh, god… just play Rocket League. Its the same thing as a own game.
The way I see it, the obstacles are fine for the casual modes, but they should not have included them for the competitive mode. I haven’t played Rocket League, but I have never seen any obstacles introduced in their matches.
It just feels like they ruined the pure expression of skill on the field by arbitrarily changing the field.
yeah but RL is wack :3
we play LUCIOBALL completely different.
The base map is great. It’s big and leaves much more to positional play and more neutral-heavy matches. I think it’s a lil dry to grind out as the only map tho.
I’d like them to keep the other two maps in COPA but ADD more maps, just also more that are more open and basic.
Looks like there’s no Copa Lucioball this year. With seasonal events only lasting for 2 weeks in OW2, it’s probably too short to consider a competitive mode.
Not to mention that there are already 3 opportunities to earn competitive points right now, with comp role/open queue, comp mystery heroes, and comp team queue each awarding their own sets of bonuses. Adding Copa Lucioball would mean 4 separate competitive point bonuses after the season was over.
