My boyfriend was playing and in his team there was a very bad mercy but endorsement 5, like no rezz in the whole match, amplifying damage when my teammates were literally dying instead of healing them. So suddenly at the end of the match we were checking the scoreboard and suddenly this player’s nickname go from being H3l1x to Granny instantly (I got the video of the nickname changing instantly). Is this normal?
Yes, that is normal because the player changed their settings from the defaults.
I saw that too. It could be they were playing in streamer mode, so their name was masked during the match. The name you saw in the replay was their real handle.

That would be the “streamer mode” being garbage. It’s supposed to hide peoples’ real IGNs but it does a patchy job.
The thing is it wasn’t in the replay but in the actual game. I assume “granny” was the random nickname, the problem is if streamer mode was on, that random name didn’t show up until we lost the match so I guess their real name was shown for THE WHOLE MATCH ?? Anyway it was super weird. Thanks for the info tho!
Nah. It is still a fake name. It just changes to a different one at specific points.
