Her hair looks amazing here, meanwhile ingame it looks like a cheap wig.
Also:
-her eyes are not brown
-shes missing the stars from her hip
-the ,Rescue’’ writing is missing
But it’s still mainly about her hair.
I’m sorry but it’s amazing how rushed this skin was…

Look at Moira’s “Oasis” skin concept art. I’m afraid that got a similar treatment.
The skin in the art has:
- DNA earrings
- DNA passing through her healing tubes
- A new sleeve design that would have revealed more of her arm.
The oasis Moira skin is also a legendary so the loss of all those details stings a bit more.

I wanna cry. The concept art seems to be better in most cases.

Hair sounds easy, but it’s actually a fairly challenging thing to do “right” in video games. You can’t always directly translate a static concept into a dynamic video game.

Blizz can do hair very well, theres no reason for them to make it look like a black plastic shiny wig, especially with how basic it is
It looks like they tried to bring in Overwatch 2’s Mercy hair design but make it black. I like the design, but the hair looks nothing like what we got. As most people have said, it looks like a stereotypical Karen hair cut. (If there are any Karens out there reading this, sorry but that stereotype is societies creation and I’m not trying to be offensive.)
There is a reason for everything, we just don’t always know what it is. Maybe they didn’t have time, maybe it was a technical challenge . . . could be any number of things.

I think the in-game version looks fine as is.
Besides, she has about a dozen of other neat skins: Witch, Pink, Winged victory, Combat medic, Snow angel, Florida mayhem 2018 etc.
BESIDES besides, as Landlord stated already it can be tough to simulate hair properly in video games… Especially haircuts like these, that are supposed to be short but still a little… wavey? (I don’t know the correct word/term for it)

also i really dig that look on mercy. she seems to me like the kind of person who would actually get that haircut on purpose because she thinks its hip and edgy.
shes swiss after all, which means its only appropriate if her taste and style differ from the american angle
I swear concepts usually always end up being much batter compared to what they do in-game. It’s the case here too sadly.
The in-game version of the skin misses so much from the concept. Outside of the hair just looking worse, there are elements in the concept that are completely missing. In addition to the missing stars and “Rescue” text, the staff and pistol are completely missing the camoflage texture shown in the weapons concept.
These elements wouldn’t really change the rarity of the skin either, seeing as there are epics like Ragdoll Echo with even more detail. They should just be part of the skin.
She’s also missing the little orange bits between the bits of her… leg… dress… things?
Well heres to the Overwatch 2 engine fixing problems such as this, I dont know what they plan on doing with the skins being transferred over (like, will they be upgraded to the same quality?), but I do know that the skins will be going over for sure, and hopefully they can greybox their models more accurately to the concept art, we are in 2021
I’m not sure if there’s any official word, but it seems plausible that the assets wouldn’t be plug and play.
Yeah… this exact thing happened with Mercy’s Dragoon skin and spray.
It’s happening with almost every skin+spray combo the last year.
the first time i saw the hair i thought it was a bag XD
