"c9" - Reportable?

Someone threatened to report me and said I was toxic for typing “c9” in the chat after they ignored the payload and lost the game.

People in the OWL use this term all the time, for example.

Shouldn’t this count as a false report?

I really doubt that’s reportable, it’s just bad sportsmanship.

I dont get how people think c9 is toxic. Some people in EU think c9 means ez or bad

Bragging about winning is just bad sportsmanship.

The correct term would be ’ Z9 ', that is the reason of report I guess – /s

typing c9 isn’t toxic.

If they report you for it I would bet that nothing will come of it. Not unless you were saying other, actual toxic things as well.

Is it reportable? - No.
Is it a little bit toxic but not really? - Yes.

Not toxic.
Nothing will come of it.
The word “toxic” is so overused now that it means nothing.

Not toxic.

C9 are the team who got off the point when all they had to do was stay on it to win. So bad or throwing does come to mind.

Memeing involves humor. Overwatch is a super serious esport game and thus humor has no place. I’d report you at least three times, mute/block and avoid you to make sure I don’t get such a toxic player on my team.

I know you are humoring but the very fact that the word ‘trap’ was banned in OWL stream until yesterday it gives me the impression that people do take it that seriously –

People in the game use it for everything, even if the other team is completely dead and there’s no one to get to the point, they still spam c9. They don’t know what it really means, or use it simply to laugh at the other team.

True - when something goes main stream (esp. if it enters meme territory) few people look into the origins of whatever it is.

C9 just means getting off the point at an inopportune time, and losing the match. Whatever else people are trying to turn this meme into is garbage. It’s not meant to be an insult.

Yeah, Blizzard’s moderation and handling of banned words in the OWL has been pretty heavy handed, to say the least. It really makes you question who is actually in charge of this league and what kind of future it will have.

I am tired of businesses going the way of over-censorship of things that may, possibly be considered offensive by some random person who gets offended too easily at things. I think issues of over censorship probably come from too much time on the internet and not enough time actually being out in the world and realizing that most people are fairly reasonable and have a sense of humor.

Xpeke!

It’s toxic when used in the context to mock your opponents or team mates. But if you use it as a matter of fact like “oh man, we c9’d” “oh dang you guys c9” its not.
