Hello Blizzard,
I am trying to coach my friend by spectating him however it automatically ques me into a quick play match once the game ends.
It’s annoying because I need to leave and then re-spectate him each time.
Most the times I can remember, but even just over the course of a night it can lead me to a warning for leaving games if I forget.
It seems like I am being punished for leaving a game that I IN NO WAY asked to join in the first place just because I decided to use the “Spectate” button.
EDIT: At least add an option in settings to disable auto-que, this is annoying even asides the bug just because I que quick play does not mean I want to continually que quick play without being prompted if I actually want to re-join the que or not.

The autojoin is the current intended behavior. I recommend adding your feedback on the feature in the General forum.
There are 2 different options listed. “Join game” Wich will put you in spectator mode until a slot becomes available.
And spectate wich will put you in spectator mode that should not put you in a slot when it becomes available.
In this case he pressed spectate and thus he auto-joined wich is probably not what should happen in this case. Making this a bug or unintended feature.

What you said is true, however I don’t think you understood the question or issue. The problem is that when you spectate a game, once that game is over the game will automatically put you in que to play after the game finishes. My wife sometimes likes to watch me with my her account while she’s playing with the baby or hanging out on the couch. If I set it to spectate me, she will spectate the whole match without joining, but as soon as the match is over and it goes back to menu on her account it will put her in a que to play whatever game type she was spectating even though she doesn’t want to play. She has to cancel and respectate every game.
Oh in that sense. Sorry it was unclear that it was that problem… Hope it gets fixed!

I have the same thing happening too, they broke spectating in a recent patch, I have come back to having been afked and endorsement punished for leaving a game… because I was spectating and it threw me in the next match when I selected spectate not join. It used to just spectate the next match or kick you to main menu if who your viewing hit a queue again.
