Buff Zarya (chars)

Revert back to S1 state. Two 8 second bubbles is fair and completely balanced. The newer bubble math has been confusing and throws me the hell off. I’ve tried to adjust to it over the months but it isn’t clicking.

Please go back to how she was for OW2’s S1.

I’m not opposed to making the cooldowns the same but I’d prefer it from a gameplay perspective if Shift bubble continued to be less desirable than E bubble in some way. Zarya’s more fun when incentivised to maximise the value of E bubbles as opposed to hogging them all for herself, imo.

I mean that’s determined on a game to game basis. Some teams won’t shoot at Zarya at all until she exhausted at least one bubble, whether it’s on a teammate or herself. There’s no reason to reward a selfless Zarya over a selfish Zarya. The enemy team can decide that themselves, by drawing out her bubbles from killing her teammates via 1v1 or overloading her bubbles with high dps.

There are definitely times when the enemy sets the tempo but in those cases where it’s fairly neutral, I feel like Zarya should be rewarded for choosing the ally over herself. I find it’s a lot easier to get charge out of personal bubbles than out of my unpredictable allies, so if the two bubble types are on even keel then the default choice will be shift bubble.

I don’t think the community wants Zarya stronger

Annoying heroes are only bearable when they are gutted. Zarya better stay as she is.

Depends on the player. If the enemy tank is shooting past me, it’s safer to self bubble and bodyblock than to turn around and try to determine who needs the bubble.

A fair minibuff could be to just prolong the duration of the ally bubble with 0. Something.

Would be less broken than shortening the cooldown too much.

I think you’re right, given the outcry over her beam getting buffed to keep up with the season nine changes, but I secretly hope for a magazine size increase anyway. Or for RMB to go back to 20 ammo cost.

Yeah…no. Terrible take, never cook again

I think for the most part Zarya is fine. I wouldn’t mind a universal buff to beam weapons where armor resistance towards it was slightly reduced.

Who do you main or consistently play?

I actually REALLY HATE Zarya.

Not because I don’t like her kit, not because I don’t like her or think she’s bad to use.

I hate that the minute you do good on any tank that ISN’T her, the enemy immediately swaps Orisa / D.va. on console, these two heroes are pure cancer. Is this a Bronze level take? Yes, yes I am in Bronze.

But Jesus H. Christ, I hate not being able to play ungabunga BEEER man.

I know what you’re saying. I’ve played only Zarya for a few years now, and in OW1 it felt like I always had a bubble there when I needed it. I’d just sort of internalized the cool down and would know I had a bubble ready (or a bubble that would soon be ready) without ever having to look. It was fun, I felt like “one with my hero” lol.

Obviously, OW2 ruined all that I had to relearn the cool downs and slowly over time readjust to that ‘internal’ feeling of just having bubbles when I needed them. I’m used to it by now. Really didn’t like it at first, but I think once you play her a bit more, you’ll grow to like (or at least tolerate) it.

As someone who started with OW2, that dissonance is still there.

On some heroes with important CDs who I’ve played for a while (J-Rat, Tracer, Pharah, Tanks That Aren’t Doomfist) I’ve noticed myself internalizing their cooldown, but with Zarya I always have a little bit of trouble. Like I’m a step behind the curve, just a little offbeat on her tempo.

She never had 8s. It was 10 in s1. Now it is 10 for personal, and 8 for teammate. The cd is either the same or better than s1 depending on how you are using bubbles.

The only thing worse about current Zarya than s1 is bubbles lasting 2s instead of 2.5. Other than that she does 10-20 higher dps depending on charge, shorter teammate bubble cd, energy takes longer to start decaying and decays at a slower rate.

Not going to include health or hitbox changes as those were game wide.

I think pretty much of all us agree that Swapwatch™ sucks for tanks.
