Ever since S9’s heal increase. It’s harder to play Widowmaker. Widow is one of the most popular characters in the game and can’t be kept in this weak state. She’s constantly getting deleted by other characters with insane hitboxes like Mei.
Buff her health to 250-300 to help her deal with dive.
Revert her hitbox nerf!
Increase one shot charge speed.
Increase her SMG damage.
Increase her max charged damage to deal with OP tanks.
Reduce Grapple cooldown
I think these changes would save Widowmaker and the game.
The ONLY people who say Widow is weak are the people who main her and still somehow suck. Just wait until they take her oneshot away like they did with everyone else, then those changes could be valid. She’s already hard enough to kill with a pocket. She already oneshots 75% of the roster. She’s already able to sit in another timezone again with the distance buffs. She’s just fine, thank you.
Good. That means for the first time since OW2 was created, she’s almost balanced.
And once they take her oneshot away, I don’t care what other buffs they give her, she will be fully balanced with the rest of the roster. It’s about time; they already took Hanzo’s away and at least he had to play with his teammates to do anything.
Oneshots don’t belong in the game. The devs have said it and proven it countless times. Widow is the last one, and here’s to hoping it gets taken away sooner rather than later
Hanzo lost his one tap when everyone received the health boost as opposed to a damage nerf. Widow maintains her one-tap because that is her sniper arch type. She only 1-taps if she lands that head shot, her skill floor will keep her in the dumpster when used by entry level players, but scales up based on the player’s mechanical aim. High skill ceiling characters like Widow and Genji have always been OW staples, so I do not see Widow losing the 1-tap without losing all viability.
Right, but surely if they wanted Hanzo to keep the oneshot, they would have given him 5 more damage to his arrows. It was intentional to keep Hanzo the way he was to remove his oneshot without even needing to change him.
And that same story happened to Hanzo and Roadhog. Hog was dogwater for 5 seasons until they reworked him and Hanzo will likely be in the same boat for a while. They had already removed several oneshots when they moved to OW2, they’re just lagging behind to get rid of the rest, likely to not tick off multiple groups of one-tricks at once. Widow may lose her “viability,” but she’ll eventually be reworked like Hog was and like Hanzo will be, and the game will be healthier without getting instant killed from another area code.
At least Hog had to be close to oneshot. At least Hanzo’s wasn’t hitscan. It’s going to be amazing when Widow joins the rest of the roster and has to be consistent to win.
For now though, I’ll be enjoying the first season that harassing Widowmaker is actually possible again since OW2 started. Thank you, Blizzard!
They likely figured out that Storm Arrow is already OP, and Hanzo can score kills without living and dying by the head shot alone.
I just don’t see how this would work. Is Widow supposed to head shot and melee, SMG spray, or venom mine for a combo kill? That does not sound like a sniper to me. Also, the Widow players has to have decent aim to land a critical head shot. This is why the vast majority of the OW2 player base cannot use her consistently, and she has many hard counters to shut her down when she is playing stand-off at 40m+.
I feel that buffing her would be not so good of idea because she’d be able to wipe the map in her hidey hole because tanks aren’t very good this season
But that’s just my opinion
I’m thinking the OP was made in jest. Widow is already a beast when used by one-tricks in the T500 range, but she falls apart when the player using her can’t hit a watermelon at 1m distance. She is a high skill floor character by design, but her skill ceiling scales even higher than most other characters.
