Buff and Fix Doom

I’m just here for my monthly post telling blizzard to buff this garbo hero.

Give him armor, or make him 500 HP, but lower his shield gain from 35 to 30.

Tighten his spread, or just simply give him more damage cause pulling up on someone and doing a grand total of 16 dmg unless I put my head inside of their mouth and hit every single pellet, just really isn’t fun.

Give him his slow on slam back, or give it the damage scalar back but cap it at like 90.

Completely remove the movement penalty from block or make it a very very low amount like 10% or something. Slowing down a hero that is meant to be hyper mobile, to a crawl is garbage. Especially when the ability can’t even block CC, so it’s practically a detriment to use the ability half the time.

Not to mention lol, requiring 100 dmg to charge empowered punch so unless the enemy team is running spam or blatantly just charging you because they don’t fear your punch anyway, you’re just never going to get it outside of your ult.

Speaking of ult. If his ult is going to stay garbage… let him build it faster. It’s arguably the worst ult in the game (and AKJ if you’re reading this, I’m not going to argue with you if it’s worse than high noon or not) it should at the very least simply build faster.

Out of all the choices here?

I’ll take the 500 hp with reduced shield gain (or armor instead of increased HP), and the slow on slam back at the very least because.

  1. This mf cannot tank for his life, and even his mobility doesn’t help him with the amount of CC in this game still and discord existing.
  2. They took away slow on slam… for literally no reason. NO ONE had an issue with the first beta iteration of doom, and yet he got murdered from nothing.

Also… give him his techs back. Stop reducing the skill ceiling of the hero and stop focusing all of your buffs on his skill floor.

It’s boring, unengaging gameplay for both the opponent and the doom player. I don’t want to be a punchbot, but there’s quite literally nothing else this hero does well when blizzard actively only focuses all their changes around the punchbot playstyle and does nothing to improve anything else about him.

7 months since his last set of buffs btw!

Except those buffs don’t even count, because he got IMMEDIATELY butchered 10 days later. It’s been 7 months since they just killed this hero, and he’s gotten NOTHING. Well, nothing other than more bugs of course!!!

Nothing better than my abilities being a 60/40 chance on if they will actually function when I use them or not.

This hero has been genuinely nothing short of abandoned.

THIS. I cba having rocket punch be the focus of this character. Its the part that makes him miserable to play against and miserable to play.

I pretty much only play Doom these days.

I like Rocket Punch as a concept and I’m fine with it being the center of his kit, but it feels bad, it feels like the only ability in the game that doesn’t “favor the shooter.” Frequently it feels like you slide by enemies that you should have contacted, and they rubberband to the side of you as the server goes “well ACKTUALLY they were slightly to the side on their own screen so you miss” when no other hitscan, projectile, or melee ability works like this.

Also, inconsistencies with targets sliding off certain angles of walls that have existed in various forms since he was a DPS in OW1.

I agree meteor strike is pretty bad, but disagree about the speed, I feel like I get it very quickly. And I’m more incentivized to try and use it for a support kill the next team fight, versus other tank ults like shatter, grav, and flux that players may hold for a few fights because they’re scared to waste it. So I get the next one quickly, result is I’m ulting 2x as often as enemy tanks per game.

Using meteor strike generally also feels bad though, without another tank to CC enemies towards the center of your ult you will generally only get a kill on players with poor reaction time or those that don’t have full HP. Nobody else will be caught in the center ring and will instead be in the falloff damage zone, so unless you’re bronze/silver/gold it will be rare to get a kill with the ultimate itself. Doom is also very vulnerable on landing, leaving him wide open for sleep dart, anti-nade, or any other sort of ability that prevents him from following up when landing with empowered punch. No other tank is as vulnerable when following up on the results of their ultimate.

Personally Dps doomfist is better than Tankfist.

More mobile and actually more deadly where getting hit by a giant fist hurts.

Nowadays when I get hit by the rocket punch I just walk away. It hits like a kitten.

I also agree the slow down should be removed. I mean power block is already the worst tanking tool.

Maybe if Meteor Strike doubled down as an escape it would work. Let him Meteor Strike regardless of status affect. Meteor Strike out of grav, flux, hook, hell even sleep.

Random Idea, what if Power Block could empower Seismic Slam and Meteor Strike, which gives them 50% more damage and a 50% bigger Slam and Circle Radius. You know like how Rocket Punch gets empowered?

I think we should make rocket punch a charged ultimate like Orisa. Meteor strike is mid, anyway.

Make it pierce, increase the distance and damage as you charge, it picks up anyone in the range and you carry through to wherever you charged to. Kinda like a super rein charge that doesn’t stop at one person.

In place of rocket punch, return uppercut.

You’re taking away doom’s main form of mobility and giving him an ability that doesn’t even combo together with what he would have left lmao.

Uppercut only worked in OW1 (and barely at that) because you would combo it with slam, but then you would have punch left over to escape. Or punch in to initiate. In ow1 comboing his ability was like a triangle.

Punch in, uppercut, slam out.

Slam in, uppercut, punch out.

That wouldn’t be possible in ow2 with just slam and uppercut. In ow2, you can initiate with punch and slam out. Or you can initiate with slam and punch out.

You can’t uppercut in, and slam out.

Or slam in, and uppercut out.

That’s cool but I don’t want it from the sheer fact I KNOW blizzard will make it like 150 dmg to charge or some garbage like that. It’s already terrible to charge with 100 dmg, they’ll absolutely raise it if it also empowered other abilities.

He needs a rework and/or make it much harder to land his abilities if his damage is buffed. All these things you’re whining about and you still don’t comprehend that the majority of people don’t like playing against the character and that it’s due to him being poorly designed.

The delusion to think DF has always been garbage is incredible. The constant victim complex and mental gymnastics to dodge common sense must get tiresome. Have you ever took a second to even question your thought process and consider why your line of logic and reality contradict each other?

There are plenty of hated damage characters, they didn’t change Bastion into a tank, they didn’t change Mei into a tank. People hated RH as a tank yet they didn’t change him into a damage character (at least, not yet). If this statement was true;

They wouldn’t have nerfed him nor would they have quickly responded to these changes so quickly:

Hopefully one day a cog turns and in that moment, a fraction of common sense will let you know he is horribly designed and the majority of players don’t like playing against the character. WB and Doom accidentally being buffed into hard meta are two quick ways to deal the final blow to this dying game.

However, you seem too far gone. Poor wittle Doomfist, never even good and everyone hates him for no reason and always will in your mind.

Welp sorry you feel that way but the hero sucks… so not much I can do for you.

I did not have a problem with it. Honestly, I’ve forgotten he even had it until you mentioned it (God, it feels so long ago). I can’t imagine that it would be too oppressive to go against, especially with things like Kiriko’s Suzu and Ana’s sleep and whatnot. And Cass’ nade and all now. It has more than enough counters IMO.

Please go ahead. Your first sentence shows you don’t want a discussion, you just want sympathy while you whine about DF because you still can’t play him after 7 years and have developed a victim complex because of it.

You always try to paint the picture that everyone is fine playing against the character and that he was always bad, you seem very determined to live in your own reality.

SO please, block me. Common sense does seem to get in the way of your delusion and victimhood.

Yea it’s crazy to think that the first beta of overwatch is already almost a year old lmfao or is it already a year old idek anymore. ow2’s been out for like 8 months now.

the only way to fix this (in all honesty) is to do what their doing for kirikos swift step. they need to quite literally re-code doomfist as a hero. every single one of his abilities and features have bugs, and he himself is just riddled with bugs. every bug fix he gets, introduces like 5 more, they literally cant fix him unless they re-code every ability in his kit which is sad.
