I’ve owned Overwatch since it came out. Unfortunately I’ve never had good hardware to play it until now. I am bronze. I main DPS characters like McCree and Soldier. This season I won a majority of placements but it stuck me at around 1000 SR. I thought it would be easy to climb at at around silver and get a foothold. Boy was I wrong. Bronze hell gives me a win or two but then my team gets destroyed with Beiggite, Symmetra, Mei, and other hold left click and look at the floor non skilled heros. I bet of you, please help me escape. I have a friend who is Platinum and when we 1v1, a majority of the time I out aim him.
(Edit): I AM NOW IN HIGH SILVER. THE ADVENTURE SHALL BEGIN!
Then you have not played against real GM smurfs. Maybe they are cheating. If you ask them why they have 70% widow headshot accuracy and snapshots not even seen in OWL they always say “LOL, I am not cheating, I am GM”.
But hey, “Blizzard knows where they belong”. Yeah sure they know. That’s why those players troll bronze.
This is not true. If I could carry myself up ranks with pure skill why was I gold in comp FFA but still bronze in normal comp?
It’s not called a team game for nothing.
I will take a guess.
Maybe you have good aim and quick reflex.
But you seem to lack adaptability.
Why I say so?
Well you can fight toes to toes with Diamond Window playing your own hit scan heroes, so you are obviously quick and accurate.
But you get destroyed by… Brigitte. You know Brigitte is stoppable, right? But it’s not about aim and accuracy. It’s about keeping your distance, seeing her coming, swapping to appropriate heroes.
For example: McCree is goddam slow. Without a speed boosting Lucio on your team, if she can easily and regularly reach you, your team composition (particularly you, as McCree) should change (if you want to win, that is).
If you are Soldier, you should spot her and ran away before she close the gap. Otherwise: your fault.
Anyhow some Brigitte (softish) counters: JunkRat, Pharah, Reaper, Winston, Reinhardt
I would argue it is more of a team game in lower ranks because it is more effective due to everyone having such low game sense/positioning. Pushes are a LOT easier with 5-6 people rather than 2.
Getting out of bronze can feel like a very uphill battle, but with experience I do know that it is possible. My first suggestion is work on developing your hero pool. Hit scanslike McCree can be quite effective, but mostly in a organized team fight situation. The key things to know about bronze rank is that players are extremely disorganized, have a general lack of motor skill, and don’t have good communication skills in most cases. These are weaknesses that can be exploited.
when I fell to bronze rank I began to practice the hero Pharah very extensively. Pharah has a strong potential in most games, as she is extremely difficult to shoot out of the sky. And can often win most 1V1 situations against most Heroes. She can also function very independently, while it is good to have a Mercy tag, you can often get Pharah quickly the places where Health packs line to stay healthy.
This is just one of many possible solutions to explore. However the general idea is that you’re going to have to find ways to carry in every match that you play in.
The game definitely has a bias to keep you where you were. To actually climb, you have to be at least a rank higher than where you belong which is counter-intuitive. In other words, if you were silver, in order to actually get there, you actually need to be gold. Definitely some nonsense. Either that, or get a new account that does not have the bias if it matters that much to you. Personally, a one rank difference might not as well exist unless you were consistently GM trapped in low masters or something.
This is what I was about to point out. Doesn’t matter how great your aim is in this game, there are heroes that don’t require it and it comes down to game sense and counter picking to win.
If your aim is as good as you say, you need to work on your situational awareness, game sense and team comps, **ie; **what you can do to maximize the teams effectiveness. This usually means swapping to something that’s not DPS.
Sometimes all it takes is to pick a better off tank, or something to break shields (examples)
It’s like people saying that in their placements they won all their matches and dominated and got placed pretty much the same rank that they were the season before.
Just because you dominated the other teams in placements, doesn’t mean that those players belong in Diamond or masters because the teams that they were dominating where the same level as they were. Wether bronze silver gold or whatever.
Anyhow my point was that if one time you got 60 kills it was against bronze type of competition. It’s much different getting those amount of kills when the competition is higher.
If you really belong higher than where you are currently then keep playing and eventually you’ll climb, but since you said that you’ve owned the the game since it came out , then I don’t know, maybe the issue is like others have said positioning, game sense and all that.
Edit, another thing I’ve noticed from people that are stuck in lower ranks is that their Hardware may be the cause of it as well. When your Hardware isn’t up to par it could mess with your gameplay.
