Bro Do Something About This

Ok, you know all the talk about being suspended for saying stuff in chat when it’s not even true and people getting suspended for no reason? Oh yeah! It’s a thing. Just do a search on Reddit for “account suspended” and you will see all the accounts that have been suspended for no reason. But I figured it out. I don’t say much in chat, but every time I’ve been suspended, it’s after a good long win streak. Seriously. Every time I do really well in matches for like 5-7 games in a row, I get reported so much that I get suspended, either chat suspend or full game 30 day suspend and I am forced to open up a new account. You know, what people call “smurfing” since I’m a beta player and I’m opening a new account, which should NOT be a reason for suspension. Think about it. It’s on purpose. Blizz?’

Bookmark this post because I guarantee you Blizz will delete it. Blizz is like the Gestapo. No freedom of speech at all. Why are we not allowed to speak what we feel? Is this not America???

It is America. You are playing a game which is owned by an American company, not by the government. The company is well within their rights to tell you what you can and can’t say ingame, as the first amendment only protects you against the government’s restricting your speech.

They are also allowed to suspend you for any reason or no reason at all. Free country.

Yet, it’s not the American “way” because they stifle any speech they deem as “wrong” which in itself is wrong. But more to the point of my post… being reported for winning or doing well is always a bad system.

The solution is to just not support Blizzard. The game would die a lot faster if all the disappointment people had standards. For the time being, enjoy the experience for what it is.

The problem is, they have an auto suspension system which suspends your account for literally 30 days for no reason because people have the ability to report you because they are mad you did so well. Happens all the time to me. AND on top of that if you get too many reports, it’s auto suspension. No human eyeballs on what was actually typed or said. I don’t even use voice chat. lol

Wind your neck in. Devs and CS don’t come here. And ‘Freedom of speech’ means ‘your government can’t strongarm you into an unmarked van with a bag over your head for smack talking them on twitter.’

It doesn’t mean ‘I can say whatever I want without consequences.’ Especially not when the platform is owned by a private company.

You’re not ‘forced’ to do anything, least of all smurf.

If you care about your account and didn’t actually do anything wrong, why not contest the suspension? Aren’t you even a little curious what blizz have to say for themselves?

I believe there are salty player filing false reports. But how on earth are you getting suspended multiple times after 5-7 games? That’s like going for a speedrun on getting suspended.

‘I got banned for no reason threads’ get axed because, most times, people turn out to be thoroughly deserving of being actioned. I’m not saying that’s what is going on here, but it’s why the mods (and a lot of forum users) are so sick of them.

Do people get falsely banned? Yes, that’s why they have an appeals system. Is it as many as people claim? Probably not, the truth is between them and blizzard CS.

You have made 3 posts about this topic, we get it, you got suspended, just dont open VC or chat and your likelihood of getting suspended drops off a cliff

Multiple posts on the same topic due to multiple bans for no reason. Just doing my good diligence bro. This is wrong. Plain and simple. The system is rigged. And the multiple posts on these forums on Redditt, about the same thing are also warranted. The system is rigged.

when you pressed yes to the terms and conditions from Blizzard when you started playing the game, you basically signed over your rights to begin with. If you don’t like it then dont agree to the terms and conditions and just leave the game

Yes its not fair, but you agreed to it when you pressed play

Out of all the games out there on the market, I have truly never seen a game suspend/ban people as easily and often as Overwatch, even when it was paid. Like I get it if people truly break the rules often but the shear frequency and easiness that they ban/suspend accounts in this game should be illegal. This is why even though I’m a capitalist I still very much support government regulation.

Its a video game, why should the government regulate account banning on a free game? Nothings stopping them from making new accounts

Not on PC, you have to litterally change your phone number or buy a new line which is INSANE just to play a video game.

If it seriously bothers you, you could gather all these players and try to get a class-action lawsuit, even though its probably going to waste money and time as lawyers try to find the legalities to Blizzard’s weird implementation. Until then, we can only pray and hope Blizzard incorporates Microsoft’s AI assistant to unban accounts.

That’s spam, you’re spamming the forums… that’s why your post will get deleted.

If companies weren’t restricted to our amendment rights, then companies could ban white people or black people from shopping all together because that violates their rights as well. Anyone saying that Blizzard can do this to speech, is either ignorant or just plain dumb. You can’t restrict speech in America meaning you can’t restrict speech if you are a company. What they are doing IS a class action lawsuit just waiting to happen. Especially with the way the Supreme Court is mainly Republican right now, this would likely win in court. Just need some rich millionaire to sue them for it.

No they aren’t. Otherwise, companies would be well within their rights for restricting people based on the color of their skin. The reason in person businesses have policies in place, is because it is private property and private property has different laws attached. With video games, it isn’t considered private property. It’s intellectual property, but they aren’t beholden to what people say on the game. Hence the fact that this is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. If they can ban certain speech, then what’s stopping them from breaking another amendment right by banning skin color, what your sexuality is, or what gender you are? Nothing in the correct answer. Speech is just as much of an amendment as skin color or the other things I stated.

Um…They very well could ban people of certain skin colors from playing if they wanted (and had a means to enforce it). But that would be terrible for their business model and they wouldn’t be in business long.

Right to Free Speech only applies to the government preventing you from speaking. Private company. Private rules. Just like any of us can make an online forum or website and bar people from joining. You’re free to speak out against those rules. But that’s all you can do. The government won’t get involved.

Everything you stated is just blatantly wrong. Freedom of speech means your speech can not be censored in America. This applies to companies as well. The only people who can hold you accountable for your speech, is the people. If the people don’t like your speech, they won’t buy your product or support you. It does not mean a company can ban you from using their product because you said a few mean words online. Going into a grocery store is different because it is private property and private property has different rules associated with it. Yes this is the intellectual property of Blizzard Entertainment, but this does not mean it is under the same jurisdiction as private property. Otherwise, companies like Blizzard could start banning people for their skin color, their sexuality, or even their gender. If banning their speech is okay, then so is banning people of certain skin color. It doesn’t matter who owns the platform. They are not beholden to what is being said. This also means they can’t censor speech. It’s why people like Facebook, YouTube, and old twitter is or was under fire by half of America. The only difference is people are too scared to sue them for restricting their amendment rights. If it has to do with speech, then it holds no place for being banned. A company CAN NOT restrict ANYONES speech.

AI moderation

If you want to contest it you have to file a support ticket but one day even those will be reviewed by AI, too. Welcome to the future.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The First Amendment only protects your speech from government censorship. It applies to federal, state, and local government actors. This is a broad category that includes not only lawmakers and elected officials, but also public schools and universities, courts, and police officers. It does not include private citizens, businesses, and organizations..”

Blizzard Inc. isn’t the government.
