Bring back loot boxes

Overwatch 2 has nearly no methods of gaining credits via gameplay. Up to 60 credits per week for grinding the hell out of the challenges is pitiful. With Legendary skins costing 1000-2000 credits, I would have to grind for 8 months to unlock ONE skin.

You want to remove the gambling aspect of the game? Fine. Copy Rainbow 6 Siege’s system then. In that game, loot boxes can only be earned via gameplay or with non-purchasable tokens. So the gambling aspect is removed since there is no monetary value attached to the boxes.

OW2 should keep the new shop system so those few players that want to spend money to unlock the exact skins they want can do that, but for the rest of us we need a way to meaningfully unlock content. Loot boxes could be gifted as part of the free battle pass, or unlocked by playing flex queue (the minimal battle pass XP we get now is useless).

Or if Blizzard absolutely must monetize them, make the loot box system unlockable with the purchase of Overwatch 1 or the Watchpoint pack. Please just do something to give players a way to unlock content without dropping $10/skin.

We got two plates of food and they are both unsatisfying.

Loot boxes were awesome tbh. It gives me a purpose to play the game, knowing that I will get my favorite skins from them. And now it feels lacking, it lacks the excitement of achieving something through the hours you spent. 60 coins are too little for weekly challenges. I think loot boxes should return, it’s a fun way for people who haven’t played Overwatch to see it for themselves. And I don’t mind keeping the shop so people can still buy skins for events that are locked but maybe lower the prices down a bit. $19 for a legendary skin while Kiriko’s Athleisure, Junker Queen and Sojourn absolutely looks horrible. Their epic looks like they worth more than the legendaries. If loot boxes don’t return then at least rewards more coins for a week so that we can perhaps get 2 legendary skins in a season.

And I agree with you about people who have bought Overwatch 1, they should be more faithful because we were the first and back then and I bought the Legendary Edition for about $60.

it’s not changing and you should view blizzard as a faceless company that will suffer its only wanted interaction with you being accepting your money

I agree, I find it pitiful that they are so thirsty for money and would go this far to get every last buck you have. It really takes the fun away from skins and honestly I hope it makes them lose money. If nobody bought any skins in the shop maybe it could bring about some change.

We need loot boxes back. Dropping 50 bucks on just two skins in events is extremely pointless. Having both the pass and loot boxes like apex I can live with. If blizzard wants players to stay they would do both. Make us actually feel rewarded for playing levels and loot boxes where amazing. But without them everyone is going to drop overwatch 2 because it’s the most expensive free to play game. Im a loyal overwatch fan (even though I’m pissed I got my preorder widowmaker skin taken away) I’m getting ready to drop the game completely
