Bring back 2CP NOW!

2CP is where the iconic Overwatch maps are, and you cannot tell me that 2CP is somehow more of a problematic game mode than PUSH, Flashpoint, and Clash.

I want to play Volskaya, Temple Of Anubis, and Hanamura again without being locked in Arcade rotation without proper role selection.

Was 2CP problematic? Sure, but it was also the most fun I’ve had playing Overwatch, and the new modes that are more “fair” are 100% worse to play and amplify all the problems 2CP had.

While we’re at it bring back LFG, Ow1’s SUPERIOR ui, and Cards. The way the game ends without cards now is so abrupt and awkward. I miss the extra time to talk in chat.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I REALLY miss those maps. They were awesome and I was so sad when I saw these clash maps bore zero resemblance to them, I was excited to return to Hanamura and Anubis.

The devs could definitely have improved 2CP, rather than just remove it like they did. Here are some ideas that could improve the 2CP game mode:

  1. Capture progress is considerably slower, but there are more ticks to save capture progress more often. This would allow your team to regroup and not have to just trickle out onto the point with crazy mobile characters trying to prevent the point from being capped before you can regroup.
  2. If there are more allies than enemies on a point to capture it, the capture would still progress some, but at a slower rate than normal. This would prevent 1 slippery/tanky enemy from completely stopping capture progress while his teammates keep trickling out of spawn to stall.
  3. Add another route to attack 1st point on 2CP maps where the choke is a problem.
  4. Finally, if they make the above changes, then adding a forward spawn for first point defenders is an option; also, they could remove the longer player re-spawn time during Overtime.

2CP could have been solved by map editing and some good old common sense…

Instead the nuked the entire game mode from orbit and called it a day.

2CP is better than clash…

Yeah. Slow down the 1st CP capture time and speed up the 2nd CP’s capture time ever so slightly.

I mean it doesn’t pose that big of a problem in hybrid maps, people still love them, so what’s the problem? In QP 2CP sucks since the games can be very fast. But in comp it could be awesome since it can go for a few rounds, why not? They both play attack and defense and the better team prevails.

One big complaint about 2CP has been the nature of the chokes, but they’re really not any worse than, say, Blizzard World or Hollywood. And they’d be easily fixed with some side routes. People have posted tons of ideas about them. Something should work. They’ve been willing and capable of adjusting maps like Colosseo. They should be able to update 2CP maps.

The other issue relates to spawn locations, but that’s solvable too.

A third complaint had to do with how the mode worked in Comp. I’m not a Comp player so I don’t pretend to fully grok it, it related to flipping positions, since in Comp you play both sides for a match. I don’t have a solution there, but they could at least bring the mode back for QP.

Pov your not a console player

2CP was the worst mode of all times. Clash is basically updated 2CP and even Clash sucks. So, no. We dont want an even worse mode than clash back in the game.

2CP is not worse than Flashpoint or Push

Yes, please!

2cp was fun!

Clash is 2CP, just faster and Push is quite enjoyable, if people would not just mindlessly push the bot and use their brain a bit to decide where fights take place.

I don’t think clash is anything like 2cp

I detected ZERO lies. 2CP was the best game mode. All my best memories of OW were tied to the plays I made on those maps. Please bring it back Blizzard. You don’t seem to mind making us suffer through push and flashpoint and havana, why is 2cp an exception

Yes! You could hide Torb turret inside first point behind a wall and get some sick plays with it. I miss that and some of the fun strats you could do

So were making it so a clean win on the attacking team turns into more addition fights because the enemy has a chance to spawn and push multiple times. Especially if something like a tracer or mei is able to stall a point out.

This just forces the fight on point, instead of around it. As in theirs now point in using any of the terrain around a point because if their not standing on it the attacking team just gets to make progress and win anyway.

Their already heavily attack favored at the moment, because 5v5 fights don’t stall out on the chokes like they did in 6v6. You can just push through rather easily and have a fight that ends in a 50/50 favored for either team. Which is not good for a mode where the defending team needs to win like several fights in a row, as just losing twice means the attacking team wins.

This really doesn’t counter balance any of the above. as one cleans win is good enough in normal games. And simply forcing several fights through longer timers and quicker access to the points is just encouraging players to just spill into the point for an open brawl.

that is askin a lot for this game lol

Killed in same choke everytime, by a Junkrat-Mei-Widow meta ? C9 by a Sym-Mei strat ? Playing 10-9 rounds and in the end, lost ? I can say you’re sadomasochist…

So no, don’t bring back the worst mode in the world. Especially Anubis.

And see “looking for E-girls”, “only arab”, “want to be boosted?”, “deranking only” etc…? No thank you

And add more toxicity during text chat, in the end ? No, that’s fine, and cards are useless

It’s not unpopular to hold this opinion. There are just people who get very hostile when you present that opinion to them.

But there are tons of us who liked 2CP way more than the new game modes that all feel like death match galore, with worse maps. Even if 2CP isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and there definitely are areas of clear improvement potential (like stalling 2nd points etc), they still laid the groundworks to some of the absolutely most iconic maps in the game such as Temple of Anubis (the real Anubis map), and Hanamura.

Also the level of strategic potential was much higher because the maps and format kinda forced teams to work together to overcome chokes and defender advantages etc through clever pathing, ability use, and staging engages. Yes it would equally suck when your team just didn’t wanna work together, but again that’s where the “room for improvement” aspect comes in.

I can’t say I’ve truly enjoyed a single push, clash, or flash map once. They’re bearable at best, but never enjoyable. 2CP I have some of my absolutely fondest OW memories from playing. Also some very bad ones ofc, but I’d rather take that than the bland mediocrity that is the OW2 maps/modes.

No no, give them more time to speak. Makes it that much easier to report them and have their accounts taken action against.

End cards were awesome, and actually incentivized people to be positive and boost morale/positive interaction with others. It’s crazy to live in a world where endorsements got to stay (in a limited form) while end cards were the thing that got canned. In OW1 people literally preferred it the other way around.
