Yeah it’s another Brigitte thread (which will most likely get merged) but it’s not going to be one of those whining for a nerf or even a buff, but a slight quality of life adjustment that might be what we need.
So most players get annoyed with the Shield Bash and it’s low cooldown, but I don’t think it should be removed nor should the reset timer be increased further. Instead I purpose that once Brigitte uses the Shield Bash (and hits a player), it causes a slight malfunction preventing Brigitte from raising the shield immediately after doing it. I was thinking that 2secs would be a nice number, potentially 3secs but if you make it too long then Brigitte will literally have nothing to defend with and if the CD is too short then the stunned target wouldn’t have enough time to take advantage of the situation. The downtime would also cause Brigitte players to think twice before bashing in to multiple targets knowing the Shield will not be available after attempting a stun and could encourage more defensive/support play.
During the time Brigitte’s shield is unavailable (2- 3secs and only if she hits a target with bash to begin with) she could still attack a target to activate self heal so it’s not like she would be completely defenseless, but it would help to level the playing field a little bit in situations when 1v1 is unavoidable.

I feel ironic that she hits people with a barrier that organic matter passes through. So really she’s just body slamming into people.
I think having the shield drop would cause bash to be risk reward, which COULD work out well. People couldn’t spam bash anymore because you could end up dying with your shield now on a 1 or 2 second cd before you can put it up.

That is a pretty good idea. I would say 2 or 3 seconds after using bash so now you have to use your brain when you stun instead of spamming it into the Reinhardt.
Also disable her sefl heal. She really does not need it.
Honestly, I think the bash needs a .5 second delay when shield is active. That way, it isn’t immediately animation cancelled when against brawlers meant to be stronger than her.
Self heal isn’t too bad, it just is a pain when it is stacked with a zen orb or mercy beam. She basically becomes unstoppable because armor
I think the armor should just be removed and replaced with normal health. I understand that it’s there to prevent tracer from chip damaging her down quickly, but shotgun characters, like reaper or hog, are being HUGELY penalized for it. She can take an entire shotgun blast and force it to do half damage.
I mean what keeps her alive in a 1v1 scenario is her self heal. She has to be possible to out-duel.
Make it always on but have it heal less, and make the armor kit have 100 initial heal with 100 regen attached to it to make up for the missing aura heals. (This will make dueling characters who get insta healed by brig a little less annoying (regen should be like 33hps)
Keep in mind that the stun it’s self lasts 1 second
I had heard in some video the idea of making bash break the shield which takes 6 sec to recharge already, so the cooldown itself wouldn’t change. I like that; it’s extremely frustating to be winning a fight only for her to coward behind the shield on a self-heal, it’s already hard enough to nail those headshots when she flails you around, only to be undone on the press of a button.
“But you shouldn’t duel in a team based game”; if a hero needs the whole team to counter then something is wrong.
Any hero with a combo like that has always had a downside, Mccree has the worst mobility, Doomfist needs to get on your face, Roadhog HAD no shields or ways to defend his team other than his fat self (‘had’ because his combo is no longer); but Brig has 0 downsides, even if you think that 6 sec without a shield is too much, it has to have a penalty one way or another.
Your proposal would make using one of her primary abilities literal suicide.

I’m all for using bash causing some negative trigger to occur (shield damage, increased shield cooldown, etc).
As it stands Brig charges in to most fights like she’s a DPS monster.
No other hero can perform any abilty from absolute safety; or have something to fall back on if such an ability failed, if they were alone; so why would hers become suicide?

How do you think this would effect Brigitte in high level play? Would the cooldown be to easy to exploit with focus fire or cc? Remember, the devs balance around OWL first.
2-3 seconds of absolute vulnerability for a high-value, front-line support?

Good. She would need to stick to this “positioning” people keep refering to when talking about how to counter her, instead of the recklessness she can afford right now.
She would get exploded for doing her job and would be utterly worthless above silver.

To be fair this is no different to Mercy doing her Rez, she is vunerable during that time and relies on her team to keep her safe for those few seconds. Brigitte not having her Shield available for 2 secs is not the end of the world (as she can still attack compared to mercy who can’t do much at all during rezzing animation) and it’s nothing that team work cannot fix.
There’s a huge difference between Brigitte and Mercy.
Mercy is only expected to rez once every 30 seconds at most.
Brigitte is supposed to be shield bashing every 6 seconds. 2-3 seconds of no shield every shield bash means she would be without her shield 50% of the time.
Except that it completely prevents her from contributing to said teamwork. A simple stun, even one that can go through shields, is not worth the level of baby-sitting that kind of nerf would require.
This suggestion isn’t a nerf. It’s a deletion at any rank above silver since she would instantly get focused down and exploded. So you’re not talking about trading a shield bash for 2-3 seconds of “no-shield”. You’re talking about trading a 1 second stun for 10 seconds of respawn + the run back.

Thanks for posting your suggestions but I’m a bit concerned that it might make her shield bash ability one to actually avoid using in the long term. If Brigitte must have another change then I would suggest it just be that her shield bash can’t stun opponents from the front who are holding a shield. Furthermore it can’t penetrate a shield barrier, it will instead knockback the shield barrier and damage it slightly.
You are still forgetting that Brigitte can attack even when her shield is down so she has self recovery to sustain her during that downtime (and self armour), not to mention if she is traveling with her team she has additional backup. The shield bash is completely optional so to say she would be without her shield 50% of the time is dramatic seeing as a sustained assault can bring down her Shield and have the same result. Brigitte does not only revolve around her shield but the rest of her kit as well.
It doesn’t prevent her from participating in team work at all, it just seems you are looking at it from a Brigette solo mission perspective. If Brigitte is helping to protect a point, payload, whatever, she would still be creating opportunities with the shield bash for her allies without being alone and exposed. Every hero often requires some degree of babysitting at some point, 1v1 is common but it’s intended to be based around team play.
You cannot ignore that one of the major frustrations that players have with Brigitte is the shield stun, so unless you have an alternative don’t keep bashing an idea which at the moment could be one of the better ones around.
