I just can’t believe how people take statements from “pro players” as freakin gospel.
When I see people like XQC complain about Brigitte being able to punch through his shield (not even the shield bash - we are talking about standard M1) and then continues to claim that the rein shield blocks everything except Brigitte main attack, my blood starts to freakin boil.
Let’s ignore the fact, that pretty much every attack from Doomfist except his M1 goes through shields. Let’s ignore the Symmetra ball of joy that goes through every shield.
And just for the sake of it let’s ignore EVERY single melee attack in the game and BTW. Reinharts main attack also is a melee that goes through every shield.
Let’s ignore all of that to declare that just Brigitte is this god like creature that can do a lot of things that other characters supposedly can’t.
I recognize now what the actual problem is here with the character of Brigitte. The complainers aren’t playing her. They only see her from one end and they don’t try to think how you can fight her. Most people that actually play her and know her weaknesses will recognize she is pretty well balanced.
But of course you can complain about Brigitte being a low skill ceiling character. Her direct counter Junkrat is SOOOOOO much more skill reliant. He requires a lot of aim and positioning and stuff. A character that is really hard to play. And Pharah as well has such a high skill ceiling that only the best of the best can really use her to counter that god like Brigitte. /there may be sarcasm hidden here…
Please don’t get me wrong. Pharah as well as junkrat have advanced game play mechanics that are used by skilled players. However the skill ceilings for most stuff on both of these characters is not that high. Spamming chokes as Junk and shooting rockets at/near people is not that hard.
And let me tell you, that I have encountered matches in which Brigitte couldn’t do ANYTHING and Zen was actually a better choice. And the enemy team didn’t even have Junk or Pharah. So there are various ways to deal with death ball setups like for example Zarya + Hanzo combo.
Anyway, stop taking everything a pro says as the truth and look at the game objectively. If you think a character is OP then play it yourself and find out what you can do and what you can’t - especially what kills you.

I’ve yet to find what’s so hard carry about Brigitte. I did my ten placement matches both some as Brigitte and a teammate as Brigitte. Many of them were lost even when the enemy didn’t always have Brigitte. Pros got Mercy’s ultimate destroyed pretty much, now it’s Brigitte since Moira isn’t going to be nerfed. Sigh.

For what I heard, XQC isn’t the kind of pro you’d listen to first of all. ^^

The pro’s have been wrong before. Remember when a lot of them were saying sombra and moira were going to be OP and change the game…
Right now the two biggest Shadder2k and XqC “pro’s” complaining aren’t even really pro they are semi pro at best.
It seems like we should at least give it a week or two with Brigitte before declare anything.

PC Gamer had an article on Brigitte:
The pros all agree that Blizzard has done a stellar job balancing Brigitte. Her abilities are strong, but her downsides mean she’s far from an automatic pick. And although her abilities seem simple, managing her cooldowns will require a lot of concentration. Plus, each skill has an “opportunity cost,” says Boink, which means players won’t be able to spam them out as they come off cooldowns.
“She could use Whip Shot to [trigger] her passive, but then she doesn’t have it for the Doomfist punch or the Winston leap. She could Shield Bash to get out of a dive, but then she doesn’t have it for the enemy flankers. If she saves these abilities, she risks herself or her team dying, so these decisions are judgement calls which provides a decent skill ceiling for a hero where many people may see easy-to-use abilities.”
The only improvement that the pros suggest is buffing her passive healing, either by extending its range or boosting its power. On the nerf side, Closer says that Blizzard could afford to lengthen the cooldown of her Repair Pack skill.
Doesn’t exactly seem like there’s the consensus she’s OPAF as people like to claim.

Oh, nice! Nice find there. Thank you for sharing!
xQc or otherwise, Brigitte’s stats speak should speak for themselves. I try to give a fair viewpoint as I am more concerned with the balance of the game than I am with merely my favorite heroes. In the short time I have played as Brigitte I have found that it’s not difficult at all to get in with my team and start wreaking havoc with impunity. The same occurs oftentimes when the enemy team has a Brigitte. Of course these are only anecdotal examples, but what we know of her stats is that she is an armor providing machine who can stun, heal herself and teammates while she is attacking, and be very hard to get away from once she’s inside due to her shield bash which advances her forward and refreshes very quickly.

Stats were shown prior to comp season she at the pro Scrim level was around 10K healing and 9K damage per 10 minutes. That’s not even counting her CC abilities and utility.
Honestly my two biggest gripes with her are that her stun shouldn’t go through Rein’s shield, and maybe a 6-7 second cool down and she needs more counter play ability for her Ult. At current is a permanent armor increase until it’s stripped off so people use it before they even engage. I am also semi confused about the 10 seconds it lasts so it just a constant stream of armor being reapplied for that time, which in many cases is a fight.

Meta is changing, people are exagerating and making brigitte way more of a deal that what she really is, the only really annoying thing about her kit is the low cooldown on her stun , and that doesnt make her able to 1 vs 6.

Thanks, I’m not allowed to link things.
And thats it? I will play cancer to beat the cancer? No, thanks, if i want to stun someone or be stunned, i would back to WoW.
If you want to win, you need to play a bunch of heroes. You can’t ask for another to be nerfed just because they’re good against the ones you play. It’s a signal to start learning others.

I’m pretty sure pro players who have put thousands of hours into this game to be the best they possibly can know a little bit more than a platinum level player ranting on the forums.

I can play on my level any hero (except 2-3). But i dont want to play that i didnt like, it’s a game, not my work. If only few characters good against one of them - character is broken.
Everyone here thinks he’s a GM (even if he silver or plat), just a little bit more play and rank up their T500, pogchamp.

Well, they don’t know, they cannot know because we are just at the beginning of Brigitte. So at this point, we are only talking about opinions. Sure, the opinion of a pro is usually more reliable than the opinion of a scrub but they are all opinions nonetheless.
The facts remain that Brigitte has some clear weaknesses: very little range attack, low healing, healing that requires brawling to trigger, an ult of unclear usefulness, and low mobility.
She also has a number of clear advantages but at this point it is not clear which way the balance is going to work out.

They have been playing Brigitte in a competitive environment longer than those of us in regular competitive matchmaking. They have been scrimming with her for a while now, they DO know better than us about these things. Play main tank this season and see how you fair. It’s not fun at all.
Yes I know they have been playing scrims. I have seen a few of those scrims and they actually look interesting. But still, there has not been enough time! Remember that this is going to be a meta shift and you cannot figure out a meta shift with a few scrims.

Uh, yes?
Just because you don’t enjoy playing a character doesn’t change the fact that they need to be strong against other characters.
I hate Junkrat with the passion of a million supernovas, but I welcome him being a strong pick against certain comps (not as strong as he was in S9, but at least relevant).

Uh, Sombra was OP and got a nerf because of it. Moira is currently one of the most picked heroes across all tiers. It’s rare that you’ll play a game without a Moira on either side.
Honestly, I don’t take pro players opinions as gospel, but there is no disagreeing that about 80% of the time, they were right.
They play the game at the highest level, meaning they know what that hero can and can’t do. Seriously, do you think their skrims are played like Quick play?
Besides that, who’s there to refute them any way? For example, half the players claiming that Briggite is fine, are support players that rarely deal with her. Am I expected to take their opinions over some of the best players in the world?
