Brigitte Melee?

Hey guys. I’ve played a bit of Brigitte on the PTR, and out of habit I press v in order to quickly burst damage and often animation cancel.
Brigitte doesn’t have a quick melee? Is this an accident?

I know she’s short-range (5m) but that extra hit would be nice.

Why would she need one? Her primary is “quick” melee

She has a Melee weapon.
Just like Reinhardt.
Reinhardt doesn’t have a quick Melee.

If you play her like you can play Winston, LMB + V + LMB + V kills someone faster than just LMB. It would effectively cancel her mace mid swing to punch them in the head, meaning you’ve done 65 damage p/s instead of 35.

Winston, and all other heroes don’t have quick melee to add dps to their kit, it’s to be able to deal damage in case you need to reload, a target is low health or you just can’t aim close range.

No need for a quick melee.

If you want an animation cancel, swing the flail and then whip it. You can basically hit both at the same time, doing 105 damage in essentially 1 hit.

If you Shield Bash+Swing+Whip, you do 155 damage in less than 1s. Tracer killer.

Moira has melee and can just lock you no worries, no need to reload. Dva can melee you and does the most damage at short range, as well as no need to reload.

Yes indeed it would. Still nobody wants that since having the ability to do that would essentially make her deal more damage. Imagine Rein animation canceling. He could probaly hit like 2x faster if you catch the enemy right at the beginning of your swing, then animation cancel with quick melee and start a new swing.

She doesn’t do 35 DPS. She swings almost twice in a second so you’re looking at closer to 70 DPS (not great math but close enough)

idk imo if you’re close enough for a Rein to attack you, then you’re way out of position and he should be able to swing/melee/swing/melee. Rein needs a minor buff if Sombra meta is going to happen and they want to get rid of dive.

Why would she need to have that? She can already instakill Tracer if she lands the stun.

Maybe so but I don’t think giving him more damage in close range is the way to fix him against sombra meta. Currently Rein’s dps is a little over 80 (75 per swing at the speed of 0.9 sec) and assuming with animation cancel he could swing+v+swing+v to kill a squishy. If animation canceling would for example speed his swingin up by a third, that would be about a 2 second kill.

Seems like she swings 1 time in 0.5-0.65 seconds.

35d/0.5s = 70dps
35d/0.55s = 64dps
35d/0.6s = 58dps
35d/0.65s = 54dps

Not sure which it is, but I would bet it is 58dps, especially as she can hit multiple enemies at once.

Lol thanks for doing the dirty work. So she’s on par with a Winston but doesn’t reload. Plus her damage also heals. Idk seems like a good trade off

bringing that to 90(ish) wouldn’t be gamebreaking consider you can combo doomfist to do in excess of 400 damage in that time with
Fully charged seismic, shoot, uppercut, shoot, shoot, wall punch, shoot + option of melee
