With all due respect, I don’t know where someone would have gotten that assumption. They talk to each other and are close friends evidently, but last time I checked, talking does not equivalent to romanticizing a relationship.
To answer your question, Reinhardt is Brigitte’s Godfather. When Torbjorn lost his arm in battle, Reinhardt wouldn’t leave his side at the hospital until he knew his friend was healed.
Out of frustration, Torbjorn said that Reinhardt could name Brigette and become her Godfather as long as he left him alone.
And thus their friendship was born.

probably from just seeing the reinhardt short, you see them nice to eachother and everything but if you know any more than the short you know that rein would never do anything like that to brig
I don’t think so, tbh. I like to think she grew up admiring Rein’s sense of justice and made it her creed, even took to being his squire. Even in Brig’s earliest appearance, I’ve always thought this, and I was elated when it came to be ^^
True, I will give OP some credit for coming to that conclusion.
Think about it; Reinhardt is 60 years old. If Brigette was 40 years old, a relationship wouldn’t be farfetched at all. Considering Mercy is approaching her middle ages and looks no older than 30, one could argue that the same could apply to Brigette.
I thought Brigitte was like barely an adult tho
