So it seems like while lower level players are still struggling against her, players above average and better seem to agree she’s almost too easy to counter. She’s kinda like to opposite of Symmetra who doesn’t do well in dive, but does better in slower pace games, the problem with this is that the majority of the roster does better at slow pace games. If you look at her overall, she isn’t very strong in any particular areas of her kit. Her damage is arguably the lowest of the Support category which wouldn’t be a problem if her healing or survivability was good enough to compensate for it.
I’m going to list a bunch of heroes who counter her well.
Doomfist
Soldier 76
Sombra
Pharah
Junkrat
Torbjorn
Mei
Widowmaker
Hanzo
Orisa
Ana
Moira
I want to suggest a couple balance changes that could make her better in more situations.
Inspire: now does 60 healing in within 3 seconds instead of 75 healing in 5 seconds.
This may sound like a big nerf on the board but it offers more reliable healing to both Brigitte and her team and can help keep teammates in a fight alive longer.
Rocket Flail: range increased from 6 to 7.5 meters.
This is more of a 2 in 1 buff. It makes Brigitte a little better in combat while also making Inspire a bit better since you’ll be hitting enemies a little more frequently.
Barrier Shield: Width is increased by 15% and the sides curve inward a little.
Shield Bash: Hitbox size reduced by 10%.
For a personal shield it’s not very reliable when enemies can easily shoot her from most angles and all angles when they’re shooting from a high point. This makes it a little easier to avoid side shots.
Please list any of your suggestions below. Do you thinks Brigitte is well balanced?
I don’t know if bumping your own post is allowed, and I didn’t read your entire post. I will say, though, it should go without saying that Brigitte isn’t super viable in higher ranks. All the Tracer (or whomever else) has to do is drill that puny barrier from a distance.
I play with masters and grandmasters. I’m paired with t500s a lot and every once in a while I even get professional players in my games. She’s too strong across the map.
Your rocket flail change seems ok when you list list it but it feels like it is spitting in Lucio-players faces when you think that even as the skill exists now, it’s flat out better than Lucio’s Soundwave, which is the most comparable skill in the game. That’s on top of everything in her kit being generally better than his kit. So that’s a no for me.
Her shield is already a joke. Her shield needs to be narrowed if anything, and the hitbix needs to be terrifically shrunk. Her hitbox for that shield can literally fit 2 heros between her target, and still stun them. Brigitte can stand on the outer edge of Reinhardt’s shield at an angle even away from him, and it will still stun Reinhardt. That’s insane. It’s worse than Doomfist’s hitbox ever was. It makes all these complainers about the Genji reflect hitbox (which I don’t have much issue with) seem like a joke. And the reason that the shield isn’t curved is to give some degree of counter play to a high HP shield that she can flail up and down way too quickly. If anything, there should be some sort of delay for her to raise her shield.
IMO Brigitte is the worst balanced hero they’ve released so far. Her kit seems so good on paper, and I love her character and design. But the way she fits in is just punishing and brutal across the boards, not just for the intended ‘anti-flanker’ idea. She is singlehandedly making the game less fun for me by truckloads.
i think she’s good in gm games. You don’t play her on dive maps. But she’s a great addition to rein maps it seems. She’s also not a must pick with rein comp from my exp.
Doomfist - Her kit counters his, she can lock him down.
Soldier 76 - Don’t play Brigitte on dive maps
Sombra - IDK
Pharah - Don’t play Brigitte on dive maps
Junkrat - Run junk with Brigitte on rein maps/extra shield to protect nades
Torbjorn - Torbs bad
Mei - Brigitte does decent against mei. (Brigitte loves melee range)
Widowmaker - Don’t run Brigitte on dive maps
HanzoV2 - Hanzo will do decent
Orisa - Walk past her shield on rein maps
Ana - Run her with Brigitte on rein maps if at all
Moira - Run her with Brigitte on rein maps
Lucio short range is compensated by it being AoE and not stopping his movement.
If you can’t get around her shield you are going to have massive issues against shields who actually cover an area around the spot. L2p issue (yes, l2p even if you are ohsohigh master and I’m a silver scrub).
Every1 is allwoed their opinion, different ppl find frustrating to deal with different heroes but that doens’t make them OP.
Everything in Brigitte kit has counters and some of them are also widely played and even other less played heroes can do a lot to counter her (A hacked Brigitte is free meat for your team, Doomfist punch is enough to counter her)
You know what made the game less fun for me? The assumed rule that if a flanker gets on you as a back liner you are dead because there is nothing stopping them if not their own messing up.
Or we could wait until she enters comp and see what happens. Brigitte has some issues, mainly in the hitbox department (if D.va, Genji, and DF don’t get weird hitboxes then Brigitte shouldn’t get a free pass on that just because she’s a support.) I already don’t think she’s the best choice in 50% of situations in QP, and that’s a mode where having any healer is an advantage. In comp I’m not sure she’ll be picked much after her newness wears off.
At this point I just really hope that Brig isn’t going to be the new Symmetra in 2 months. I see a lot of Symmetra’s flaws in Brigitte’s kit. On top of that, Brigitte is going to be an off healer, which means I already won’t use her in at least 50% of situations, because a main healer is needed instead. That’s not counting the places where Lucio or Zenny would be better.
I agree that it’s still too early to give her balance changes but there are a lot of people jumping the gun saying she’s op, and I bet that Blizzard will give her balance changes before she’s available in comp, which annoys me.
