Brigitte Gameplay Q&A with Geoff Goodman

Inspire self heals more then Lucios self heal. They also have different health levels and defensive capabilities so keep that in mind. She is supposed to be healing while in combat for burst heals.which means she gets it immediate and not over time

if Brigitte is not “meta changing” as hoped/designed do you intend to change the meta in some other way?

She does seem to be commonly regarded as bad by the players I watch. Also she seems to be considered quite low skill which isn’t something I care about and actually in this case disagree with but I think it’s a poor perception to have going in

Delaying Brigitte only have negative impacts to the game. I’m already losing the motivation to play her because she isn’t coming to ranked until May (!). You are killing the hype.

A season doesn’t mean anything. It does not reset your rank or anything. When a new season start, you just continue the same way as before, so there is no point delaying a hero one and a half month just to wait for a new season. If you release her to ranked next week, there is over a month left of the season. That’s more than 50% of the season left.

I thought that Brigitte was 23 too?

How will she be meta changing?

Brigitte’s Shield bash allowed her to jump quite high, this was tweaked to give her a maximum height.
What sort of questions did the team have to ask itself to come to the decision to put her vertical mobility where it is now.

Do you feel that removing that upward mobility from her burst of speed puts her at ends with how both Moira(Fade) and Doomfist(Rocket Punch+Jump) seemingly shared this mechanic of using bursts of speed to gain vertical height off specific environmental objects.

Hello Geoff,

I am a coach for a t3 team (around 4400 average) do analyst work for a few t2 teams, and am also a mid grandmaster support main. From what I have seen from around 60 hours of PTR scrims, Bridgette seems to struggle in and against any kind of poke comp (pharah mercy dive, ana soldier dive, anti dive) and only seems viable in Rein comps (we were testing some triple support comps with interesting results). Because of map design, it seems that rein comp is very neiche, and will often be worse than dive, even on the very few maps where it is viable. Do you have plans to make fundamental changes that address this issue? Do you feel that Bridgette will somehow change the meta, even though she has a glaring huberous in her lack of range and consistent healing? It feels like you designed Bridgette for ladder, as she thrives in confusing fights, however, if she engages in fights against coordinated teams she seems to die instantly due to her limited range. Was this intentional from the Blizzard team? Are there additional changes comimg that make dive less oppressive, shifting Bridgette and rein comps into the meta?

Thanks for reading!

No it is 300.

Sym Shields = 75

Torb Armor = 75

Brigitte Ultimate caps out at 150 granted armor.

Total is 300. Her E ability does not stack with Torb Armor, but her ult armor does

What made you change your mind on reverting the Brigette’s Mobility?

Will we see reverts to Doomfist? Whose gameplay was extremely fun prior to his mobility nerf.

Will she have Overwatch League skins on launch?

With the addition of Moira and now Brigitte, that seem to play better in a deathball style of way instead of Dive, is the team going down a path where they are trying to release new heroes (be it Tank/Healer or DPS) that fit into the deathball style of play? So more anti-dive than pro-dive.

What other ideas did you guys have for Brigitte’s Ultimate before choosing Rally? Also what other Abilities did she have during development?

When would you ever pick Brigitte over Lucio, Zen, Mercy, Ana, or Moira?

If you were to play her as off tank instead - when would you ever pick Brigitte over D.Va?

I often see these heroes as classic DnD or WoW archetypes with some modifications to fit the the type of game Overwatch is. Blizzard has mentioned that Brigitte is a Paladin type and I agree. I see Sombra as a rogue. McCree as a ranger. What archetypes have we yet to see that you guys are excited to play with in the future?

Hey Geoff,

Thanks for doing this QA! Bridgette looks super interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing how she plays in the live game. Quick question about UI - I really like seeing how many folks I’m affecting while playing Lucio. is there any chance that something similar could be done for Bridgette and Inspire?

Apologies if this is already implemented, I only played her in the training grounds, but I don’t remember seeing anything similar.

Why won’t you release her for season 9. No one likes dive and she seems like the perfect candidate to help crush it.

Do you expect Brigitte to have bad synergy with Zen since having those two as your healers means that a team might not have enough sustained healing?

Also do you expect Brigitte to enable really hard to beat defensive comps in the lower ranks of competitive, like for example a Brigitte+Symmetra+Torb combo (perhaps with Moira+Orisa+Hog/Soldier/some other 6th hero…)?

What is one tip you have for anyone thinking of becoming a Brigitte main?
(Side note, who do you ship Brigitte with?!)

Since you guys are going to be releasing heroes and maps at the season starts from now on, are you planning on also doing this for hero changes/reworks?

This will make each season more unique and consistent, which is what you are going for.
