Brigitte change idea: Reworking how she heals

I don’t know if this would be a good idea, but what about removing her Inspire passive and the Packs from E and just give her a new E ability to change how she heals:

New E ability would be called “healing flags”, which would work as AoE healing auras that Brig could deploy around the map with a range (not necessarily on her feet):

Healing Flags

  • 3 charges of the ability
  • Cooldown: 6 seconds
  • Deployment range: can be deployed in front of Brig up to 30 meters away
  • AoE radius: 5 meters
  • Duration: 5 seconds
  • Heals: 20 hps, but can stack if there’s an intersection of areas.
  • Cannot be destroyed

To compensate for the lower heals, she gets some buffs to her survivability to perform like an off-healer that engages enemies in close range to deal her damage:

General

  • Total health back at 250 hp (50 being armor)

Barrier

  • 300 hp

With this ability Brig is supposed to be an AoE off healer able to create zones of healing around the map (Winston’s bubble sized - 5 meter radius) where she can become “tanky” as well, but will require a lot of decision making to where to drop the auras, if she should drop them to help teammates or to help herself, if she should stack them for 40 or 60 hps (spending more than 1 charge at once) and shield management when she’s moving around not making use of her auras.

Although a cool idea, I’d rather this be left to a new healer instead of completely changing an existing hero’s play style.

We’ve already seen her play style change with the constant Brig nerfs, let’s not change it again.

So at most she gives out 60 hps for 5 seconds per person and only in a very specific radius? Did I get that right?

If so wouödn’t she still be in this weird spot between a Main and an Off Healer? She doesn’t effectively bring much else than healing to the table but probably not enough healing to be picked for healing alone.

Yes, up to 60 hps through 5 secs in the intersection of the auras if the player decides to use all charges at once.

Well, I guess her barrier would need more fine tuning, but at least Brig wouldn’t be this support that has to stay in the back distributing packs and whip shots without being able to engage in close range.

She can either choose to drop an aura on her feet or to a distant teammate, and manage the barrier until she engages someone with or without her healing aura.

This is a very creative idea. I’m down to try in experimental.

I will give you some credit for making a unique mechanic.

That said, I am reasonably certain that these things would feel absolutely anemic and terrible to try to get value out of. Healing that is long, low, or AoE has a tendency to be much stronger than it feels so they have to be balanced such that they feel pretty meh to use. These flags are all 3 so I just honestly can’t see them being remotely engaging or exciting to use.
