Just curious which hero was more hated during their initial PTR launch?
Echo
She is not even released to the Live version yet and she already got some form of hate.
Brig took a while on the live servers to get hated.
IIRC people didn’t much mind Brig on PTR. It wasn’t until she was on live for a little while that the hate started coming in.
Echo 100%. Her kit/mechanics, appearance, and her role are getting bombarded whereas people only saw Brigitte as a gameplay problem (though later) and loved her everywhere else.
Well. There seem to be a lot of Support players who actually like Echo.
Otherwise they wouldn’t want her to be in the Support roster, right?
What people hate is rather Blizzards weird decision to give us a 17th DPS and make it LOOK like a Support
You know how people can sometimes struggle with Pharmercy and complain?
Well, Mecho will be worse, MUCH worse. She’s also a tank buster and a flanker. And she can steal your ult.
Every roles has a reason to hate this hero. Something to unite us at last?
Brig was. End of story.
um brig was beloved at launch…noone really knows how a hero will impact game until she goes live and we actually see what happens to the game
sigma, hammond, baptiste, even moira…new heroes are always loved…its the shiny thing
I can’t wait for the console release.
That will be a hoot. Oh boy…
So I guess Echo is the exception to the rule. I swear to Jeff, it feels like 90% us of here hate Echo and I can see why.
Brig was only hated because she was OP in live play. People came to grips with her and realized she wrecks everything.
People hate Echo because she’s an ill timed hero that exacerbates existing structural issues. And she looks OP out of the gate - and will be annoying as hell to kill due to her fast flying nature.
I fear this sky bic v2 more than I feared God King Bastion.
250 burst stickies and 200DPS beam with 30% damage boost.
You better be fast with that trigger finger boy!
Mecho is coming and she’s coming in HAWT!
Now that I think about it you can run that WITH a Pharah…
I do agree Brig is adorable, she was hated for her kit but was well loved everywhere else. Echo is just suffering the supp mains’s jealousy at the moment, once they too get their new toys they will forget about hating Echo.
AERIAL SUPERIORITY ACHIEVED.
Stick a Zen orb on there, throw in two kinda divey tanks, nightmare mode.
Brig wasn’t really hated at launch, we all saw she was OP but the hate didn’t start until people realized how broken she actually was and how much damage heroes were utterly smashed.
I hated Echo the moment I saw she was a DPS. I don’t even care for her balance, she could be the best designed, best balanced hero ever, it sucks that we didn’t get a tank or a support.
And it goes deeper. This hero makes me lose faith in this game entirely. I believe devs are completely oblivious to the game’s issue and are thus incapable of addressing them.
I thought people hate Echo’s role, not Echo herself?
Before Echo role was revealed, you don’t see dps mains make post complaining that Echo should be a DPS, and now we are seeing nothing but hate threads from supp mains complaining about her, and they call dps mains entitled…
I don’t think that many people actually hate Echo as a hero though.
It’s more like - they hate that Damage players get another new hero to play with that’s fun to play rather than giving more options to one of the two roles that are already suffering from a lack of options to counter. Particularly when Dive is strong - the hero cast that exists feels pretty weak. Especially if Moira is suddenly out of the hero pool for a week.
Remember, that RQ exists now. Enough people already play the Damage Role as evident from Queue times. We should be encouraging people to branch out rather than just adding another hero into their already inflated roster.
Having a hero that can remain airborne for a suspended period of time without needing a balcony to jump to would have been a great answer for Supports trying to avoid dives.
But no. Have to stick to the rotation order, I guess.
I honestly don’t know what this will mean for the future of overwatch.
Supports dislike she’s not a support, true, but her kit is disgustingly strong. Her beam does 200 DPS to any target under 50% health, including barriers. Her bomblets themselves do 250dps if all land which will one shot the entire dps and support roster except Bastion, Brig, and torb. She’s got great flight on a low cooldown that offers really good horizontal mobility with it, and her ult can let her pull off 2-3 ults of whoever she copies.
