It was infuriatingly stupid to nerf her shield back to the 250hp for no real reason. No one was complaining about her as far as I could tell. She was in a decentish spot. She’s disproportionately difficult to play now.
Let me be clear that I don’t want buffs that reward her for playing like a raid boss but she NEEDS more survivability.
“Brigitte’s overall effectiveness and survivability have been high relative to other heroes”
Yeah because that’s how she supports! That’s HER thing. She still got shut down if you played recklessly and before you got good value playing her like how you’re supposed to. Easing in and out of hard cover, shifting to places where peel/support is needed. Remaining defensive.
The problem is when players are smart, they KNOW they can call your bluff and W on you. Which is what has been happening a lot more. Brigitte always walked a tight rope between saving and being a liability herself. With her new ult, she has the worst of both worlds now. Yea the shield is big but it’s thin as paper width wise and isn’t a solid object for the enemy heroes and players that understand and stop being intimidated about it capitalize on that.
Every shield HP matters and to Brig players who can gauge how long they can hold out before having to bash with that last few HP on their shield, that can make a real difference and HAS BEEN. It’s been far too hard to protect my teammates. It wasn’t easy before but I did it because I’m that crazy enough to enjoy playing Brig. I know this will fall of deaf ears dev wise but I’m just frustrated. I enjoy the hero and they did her dirty for no reason besides to make LifeWeaver and Illari more desirable to buy. I wish she had the following:
- 300 Shield/Reduced ult cooldown back
- Rally resets her shield bash cooldown
- Gives the team more overhealth during Rally
- Armor pack cooldown reduced from 6 to 5 seconds.
- Rally to proc inspire through it’s duration including to herself
- Rally to last 12 seconds so there’s a better chance you can bash twice
- For the person who nerfed her to fall down some stairs
I understand Rally can be strong but if your movement speed is THAT reduced, she’s forced to stay in that spot, it has to be like that. You move slower than walking speed when the shield is up. Fleeing is easy.

Brigitte has a lot going against her.
- She performs exceedingly well in the niche she is designed for which is countering divey and brawly characters. Whipshotting them. Trying not to die. Helping to kill another player. If you have 1-2 brawly/divey enemies, then Brigitte doesn’t have to work hard to justify her value.
- Many people dislike Brigitte from time of OW1 still. She’s more tame, but many still hate her easy to use, no aim style of play. Feeling she’s too easy to sue for what she does.
- Brigitte after all her nerfs is now difficult to pick up for new players because they don’t understand how to play her well. She is quite unlike any other character in the game for how you need to play.
- She has a low pick rate, but she excels at her niches. She’s easier to play into dive than trying to say force Kiriko or Ana, but your ability to do stuff is far easier.
- Season 5 top 500 ended an extremely solid Brig + Ana as the two most used supports almost regardless of DPS/tank comp.
This season after Brig nerf and buffing to other larger ranged tanks with lasers and high DPS output, Brigitte simply does not function this spam/ranged meta well.
I’d like to see something in the middle like 275 shield health personally, but Brigitte is very operational as she is now when you play her into her strengths rather than try to one trick her into ranged spam.

Brig was never too strong and did not need a nerf- she unfortunately perfectly accommodated an Ana co support and that’s why she was played, because as usual Ana dominates and brig just so happens to be a great support peeler.
So unfortunately Ana got brig nerfed. Because as usual they don’t address the true issue, they address a symptom.

Brig is still good in the right circumstances like a lot of other characters, on dive maps def like gibraltar or dorado for instance.
She definitely doesn’t need buffs.
I agree, she does but I’ve noticed if I play safer like I was, I’ve been noticeably less effective over how cowardly I now have to be even thought I’m very compulsive about my awareness and finding good moments to strike. Lately my teammates have been dying faster than they used to be because I can’t shift to that area as safely as I used to.
I suppose that depends on the rank. I can imagine in lower ranks people aren’t so sure how to handle her shield when being approached but from my experience, when you’re at a level where people are aware of her, they won’t let her get close due to being focused on (Which only needs to happen for a few seconds before being forced to bash to safety).
I don’t disagree but I don’t see that as reason enough to make it harder to play her when you’re already working hard to not be what people call a “throw” pick. that 50hp mattered to me, but didn’t matter really address any alleged complaints I think.
I think that’s more to do with Ana than Brig. If Ana didn’t get insane value staying alive, then Brig protecting her wouldn’t have mattered that much but of course they nerfed the tool more than the user.
The shield is almost entirely used defensively with the exception of a burst damage combo. I wish they would’ve found a different nerf because she’s still exposed that duration she chooses to whipshot which is something that’s not talked about enough. She can’t both shield and attack (besides that bash but 6 seconds is a long time in a close range fight)
I still don’t regret making this:

Brig is good, she doesn’t need any love
I’d give Brig all the love she needs… Oh wait, this is a balance thread. Um, whipshot kills now reset bash CD. Rally resets all CDs.
As a compensation buff just bring back her Whipshot+Bash jump tech. That was so much fun on her and the real usage of the combo was so niche there is no way it can pose any problems!
Brig is fine right now. Anything that goes well with Ana is good.
I can say without reading all this they nerfed her shield because dive is always in (in some form) and she can make that a lot easier to deal with.
And for the last 2 BPs I’ve been picking Brig more because of all the dive.
So yeah, probably related.
agreed. rarely used. rarely ever seen on the battlefield of either team. same as bap. due to excessive artificial impairments.
well, bc devs nerf based on isolated incidents of exceptionalism. rather than based on excessive exceptionalism by the common majority. massive mindlessness. or bitterness.
Maybe because I’m biased to 2 tanks, but I want older Brig back. Not quite broken release Brig, but the one after. The Brig that still had movement tech. The Brig that made Tracer go back to spawn first class for daring to harass the backline. I unironically miss mini tank Brig.
The changes to support selfheal did make it harder for her to 1v1 fights… I´m all for resetting her bash when activating her rally…
The meta doesn’t favour her. She’s already strong. This is just how it is for brig.
You guys can just have everything and still complain! Brig is already too OP, inspire aoe heal, massive buff on ultimate with bigger shield and 3 men stun, a shield on a support hero, 2 cc abilities. You just want to have a win button as a 2nd passive.
Dorado needs a rework so yeah…
She was good before the nerf, and still good after. The buffs you are asking for is so much more than the nerf she got.
I want something like this re-balance of Brigitte so she can front-line more:
Brigitte
- Base health increased from 150 to 200 (total health from 200 to 250)
Repair Pack
- Burst Heal reduced from 25 to 20 (total healing from 125 to 120)
- Range reduced from 25 to 20 meters
Whip Shot
- Damage reduced from 70 to 60
- Knockback reduced from 9 to 7 meters
Barrier Shield
- Barrier health increased from 250 to 300
- Barrier recharge rate increased 85 to 90 health per second
- Cooldown when destroyed reduced from 5 to 4 seconds
Rally
- Shield Bash no longer briefly stuns enemies
- Bonus barrier health reduced from 450 to 400 (750 to 700 HP)
- Max Overhealth duration on allies reduced from 30 to 20 seconds
- Bonus personal movement speed increased from +15% to +20%
- Area of effect increased from 8.5 to 10 meters
- Ultimate cost reduced from 2700 to 2300 points (17.4% buff)
