Torb:
Has to wait eons to passively generate scrap OR overextend to collect scrap and risk dying.
Gives 75 armor.
Actually has to physically give armor for it to apply to the teammate.
Armor lasts until destroyed.
Brigitte:
Can full heal a teammate with the press of a button + give armor if they were already high hp without worrying about missing.
Ability isn’t generated and instead on a cooldown.
Can give 150 armor with ultimate doesn’t decay.
So both armor and turret are useless now. Thanks powercreep.
The armor from her ability disappears after a bit and her ult’s armor usually gets chipped away unless you’re Zenyatta since the stupid algorithm where health goes in order from normal HP, Armor, Shields so his shields soak up the damage before the remaining armor does.
Armor from Brigitte’s E only lasts 5 seconds. The armor from her ultimate is just that: an ultimate. She can only give it a few times, whereas Torb should be putting out armor packs somewhat often.
And that’s why I think her ultimate is more broken than her shield bash. And people are focusing too much in the shield bash and letting the ultimate slip through. +150 overhealing HP is extremely powerful. You need two other heroes to reach that level of power. And that is not even counting that they stack up for +300 HP.
I’m testing a Brig/Sym/Torb tankless strat with my friends, and every single time we run it, we stomp hard if the enemy don’t counter-cheese with the same formation (and even then we usually win because we have more experience on them). 500 HP Soldier and Pharah are terrifying, and all the overhealing HP allow we to use Zen discord or damage boost Mercy as the second healer because the enemy simply can’t eat through all the extra health fast enough.
But Torb can have his out at almost any time, meaning your supports will basically always have overheal. Brigitte can only permanant overheal through her ult, which makes the extra health extremely vulnerable to poke damage, which also charges the enemy ults without giving your supports any.
Symmetra Shield Generator is also an ultimate ability and only offer +75 health. Granted, it regenerates over time, but if well-timed, Brigitte can give up to 300 armor to her team in addition to her normal healing while the flag is dishing out armor.
I main Sym/Torb, and I’ll probably add Brigitte to my hero pool. I’m perfectly fine taking my turn in the OP throne until they nerf her. I’m just pointing out people are looking at the wrong thing that actually makes her overtuned.
Like you said, shield generator HP regenerates until the generator is destroyed. Rally’s HP only lasts until it gets poked down unless you also have a shield generator (in which case, you either have very little healing or have to run triple support).
Torb can pretty consistently throw out armor packs and his armor is permanent. That’s the difference. The little bit of extra armor Brigitte gives form her repair pack falls off after around 5 seconds.
Brigitte’s ult doesn’t happen that often unless the enemy is feeding her way too much and the only armor that’s left over is usually gone pretty quickly into the next fight, assuming Brigitte’s team won the fight where she used her ult. When her ult isn’t up, she can’t grant permanent armor.
