Game starts, players pick “not so mainstream” comp with 3 dps or 1 tank or 1 healer or maybe a symmetra in attack
someone decides to type in “gg” all chat doesnt even let the comp have a chance then goes “report my team for throwing” as he spends the WHOLE match typing about the comp he doesnt like
when do ppl realize that comps matter insanely little in games below diamond
whos a bigger “thrower”
team that doesnt pick 2-2-2 every game or a guy who constantly complains about the comp
People that complain 222 nonstop typically don’t know what they are talking about, but comps can still be really bad. Had our comp on defense once be rein, zarya, mercy, moria, junkrat, reaper. I said we might need something to deal with a phara or widow, and someone else got mad at me for saying we might need a phara counter before we see the opponent’s phara on defense…
Maybe early on you could get away with running almost any comp but now, due to so many balance passes later, those days are pretty much long gone. You don’t have to run only a set meta based team but you still need to hit certain team goals.
what you notice from lower SR players is zero concept of synergy between the hero picks. Some times you can make it work anyways, like say Orisa + Reinhardt or Rein + Winston. It’s not great but it’s workable.
Genji+Sombra+tracer as defense? If the other team just rolls goats you’re toast, if they notice you team comp and switch to goats comp you’re toast. It’s just not a good comp… it’s not even up for debate, it’s crap.
Other team has a bastion, you have no range burst DPS, no D.va to DM to get people close. The team comp is just trash, fix it.
Even higher it doesn’t matter as much
People run meta up here though since they can’t win without it or don’t want to even risk losing SR. It’s sad really
It depends on how badly the comp synergises…
If someone insists on running sombra in lower elo they better have either
A:) really good mechanics as in 40 percent plus accuracy as a baseline. preferably closer to 45 which aint easy
B:) Have a dps that can do good steady damage like soldier rat or pharah
C:) dva as a tank for mobility

its gonna be tough to put pressure on the opposing team cause sombra just lacks punch.

NO you dont have to run meta but it helps to run something that at least makes some sense.
‘Meta’ and ‘222’ have little to no relevance for most of the population of this game. Most of the population is platinum and below. At lower SR almost any comp will work provided the team works together.
You can have the ‘perfect’ comp and still loose if those 6 players never group up, feed, and blame each other for why the match is not going well.
Anytime I see somebody whine in spawn about comp before the match even starts - I mute them immediately and focus on the game. They showed before the match even starts they have nothing productive to contribute.
If somebody talks about team comp after the first couple team fights have been lost, then I am open to listening. Because at that point is should be clear to even the most daft people that something needs to change.
comp in matter doesnt matter when 6 random people dont know how to play it at what ever rank they are playing in. like me playing winston, people whine about it all the time. if I switch the exact same thing happens cause its not my fault, if i stay on monkey people throw or lose and still blame it on me

ive locked symmetra on attack and defense every game for the past 2 days, and im on 84% win and rose 400 SR.
