Brennen H and Josh W wont return to OWL 2022

Josh Wilkinson tweeted today that he and Bren do not have an agreement for 2022. Marking the end of their four years of broadcasting for Overwatch. They will be missed by the OWL community.

Edit: Some people got mad because i said ‘entire community’ instead of the OWL community. Although it seems kinda obvious that i meant the OWL community in the first place :man_shrugging:

Well, sorry to see them go. Liked them. Wonder if that means the end of Plat Chat as well.

Huge L for the League

Big W for the return of Sideshow companion streams. Visa-hell Sideshow was peak Uncle Egg content.

Sideshow had to be let go so he could play for his third OWL team.

I dont have the slightest clue who either of those people are.

Their gamer IDs are Sideshow and Bren. They’re one of the best casters duos for OWL and they host PlatChat (for OW and Valorant).

-Shrug-

Never heard of them.

Sideshow is a huge loss for OWL.

It’s easier to find “hype-person” type of caster, but Josh is a great analyst, actually quite smart despite the smooth brain feeder meme thing.

I don’t see him being idly replaced unless one gets into retired players and/or coaches, but then that’s also very hard because there’s the whole charisma to be on camera and what nots. Jake is back with Houston so he is not it either I’m afraid.

Man, they’ve been there since day one in 2017. I dont watch OWL much but I know losing them is a huge deal. I hope they find great success on their plat chat show, which I guess leaving OWL helps with that

I’m sure they don’t know who you are either or have any possible reason to.

Some interesting information about this from Sideshow’s stream, they were negotiating the new contract, got an offer they didn’t think was competitive and said no, and after that there has been no communication from OWL.

Why are people who clearly don’t watch OWL coming onto a thread about OWL saying that they don’t know who these casters are?

It’s a weird ego thing, literal nobodies who comment “who?” At people who are clearly somebodies, happens everywhere…
Been seeing it a lot on news comments on social media.

Will they? I don’t even know who they are.

They are talking about the OWL community, not that hard to figure out is it?

We’ll likely never have details but if Sideshow and Bren wanted something reasonable, and still OWL let them go, then it’s a another failure in the leadership for this franchise.

There has been a lot of turnover at OWL as well so I’m somewhat hoping that the chaos it causes is why this happened. I really hope that the budget this year has gone down so much that they wouldn’t be able to pay them what they deserve.
