Branching out of Moira/Mercy

Hey everyone,

So I’m an absolute Moira main… Through and through. Often doing pretty well as her, and I very much so enjoy her playstyle. I’m rank Silver 2, and am absolutely wanting to rank higher.

The reason for my post, however, is I really want to branch out of these 2 supports. I enjoy Kiriko, and I also very much so enjoy Brigitte - and that’s what my post is about today, Brigitte.

How is Brigitte best played? aggressive or defensive? Or hybrid? On the few unranked games I’ve played, she feels very robust and with that I almost want to take her extremely aggressively.

I play her mostly defensive. I play body guard for my other support. Looking to land whipshots on tanks to keep inspire up as long as possible.

Pocket your other support not your tank and don’t play Rein on brig because shield. You’ll feed if you try to tank

Defensive. She’s a bodyguard, and a really good anti-flanker. You’re better off guarding less mobile characters with her.

Lucio is a pretty easy support to pick up and be effective with at the rank you’re at. Tbf, at that rank as long as you’re giving good healing output and keeping your tanks alive mid fight you’ll do good. For brig either stay with your tanks or protect your back line support

Same with tanking. Just stay with your team and try to stay alive as long as you can or protect supports. That’s a good rank to learn new roles

watch some gameplay on youtube, that works best (hard to give advice on how to play them through text when you can just as easy look at a few videos that will show you)

and there’s the training ground you can try the heroes and get a basic feel for them. after that, are aimtraining maps still a thing? if it is, there should be some modes there that can help you train against bots.

you can also play some QP as it’s less hectic and if you make a mistake, it’s not that bad.

it’s good you have 2 supports (moira is also my main and i think bab was my second for a long time) but try to be effecient enough with most (having 2 or 3 you dislike/you’re not good with doesn’t matter then. as you’ll have more then enough for most situations)

an other tip i used to do was play ALL the characters 3 times (with a few exceptions) just to see how they work (you’ll need that info to know how to handle them, knowing their CD’s and weaknesses)

This is as defensive as Brig gets:

Brig is very much played defensively. Most fights you take will be by waiting for enemies to come to you, and defending your backline from them. This is why she works best as a counter to dive/flanker heroes, as those heroes have to come to you to get elims.

There’s sometimes room for aggressive plays on brig, but they usually come from an enemy being in a very poor position or overextending. You usually can’t make a big play happen on brig unless you have Rally available, and even then, can’t be too reckless with it.

Some general Brig tips:
-Whip shot is used for either keeping inspire active from a safe distance, or knocking a dive away from your team. It’s usually fine to use this whenever it’s available since it’s a short CD.
-Shield bash is used for mobility about 80% of the time. Either to cross distance faster, or to retreat a small distance when you are in danger. Only shield bash enemies if they’re low health or completely alone and you know you can get the kill.
-You usually shouldn’t fight tanks. There’s exceptions of course, like if they’re low or outnumbered. But it’s usually best to just knock them back and shield bash away if they get right close to you. Especially brawl tanks like Rein, Ram or JQ.
