Bought digital version on PS4. Stuck in Free Trial mode

So anyone how to deal with this issue? I played the free trial of Overwatch in the past prior to buying the game on PS4. Bought a disc copy and been playing it for a few years. Stopped working very recently. Decided to pick up Overwatch: Legendary Edition since it’s on sale for $19.99 on PSN.

Chose to download it from the game page itself on PSN. The download shows up as Origins Edition anyway. Started the game up. And upon attempting to log in, it tells me ‘Sorry, the Overwatch free trial is not available at this time.’ And gives me an option to push O to Buy Overwatch or X to Continue. O just takes me to the game page I bought the Legendary Edition from in the first place and X just defaults to the main menu.

So anyone know how to authenticate this stupid thing? Or is there something I’m missing or what?

Uninstall your game installation of Overwatch from your PS4 system then try downloading again from the PSN store.

Already tried that method several times and it hasn’t worked unfortunately.

Try doing this:

  1. Turn off your PS4 system (do a proper shut down, DON’T put into sleep mode).
  2. Unplug the console from electrical power for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Plug back in and boot back up the system.
  4. If you need to access the download again do so on the PSN store.
  5. Try launching Overwatch.

This method does a certain reset to the console to check for new changes to your account.

Well, tried that and now it’s working. Still rather ridiculous that has to be done in the first place instead of just downloading the game and having it work like every other game I’ve played that had a free trial I also played but at least it’s working now. Thanks for the help.

Don’t ask me why exactly why that works, it’s just a really weird console troubleshooting trick.

Hi sorry to bother you but i tried this and it still won’t work
