"Bobby Kotick was the entire reason everything was bad!"

And yet here we are with a dirge of awful announcements and bad ideas without him.

???

not sure what your reffering to.

Also like the stuff he set up will be pushed for like the next few months anyway.

You can’t change course on a major development project that fast.

And then in a few months there will be a new reason to excuse why all these bad ideas are still being pushed.

Oh you mean mauga?

No he wasn’t a bad idea, all hereos are going to go through balance changes.

also that was mostly community feed back that did that.

To much damage, nerf.

To weak can’t live, buff.

No can’t die!, we went on vacation,

Mauga was a bad idea.

just simply from a hero design perspective. he’s designed terribly. He’s fundamentally flawed as a hero.

I mean the last several years, but sure.

While we’re on the topic, though, I’ll agree with this despite being one of the people who has been waiting for him since the short story came out.

I don’t think Mauga is Bobby’s fault.
That guy doesn’t have the brain to create things but rather make use of his environment to snag more bucks.

Who has ever said Bobby was the “entire” reason everything was bad?

He undeniably played a huge role in creating a toxic work culture and environment at Blizzard, which obviously had a huge ripple effect on everything. That does not mean he was the sole reason, or that everything is perfectly fine now that he’s gone.

People are really gonna look at a bad balance change or decision in a couple years and be like “See!!! Bobby wasn’t the issue after all!!!”

All while ignoring the fact OW2 would have been significantly further along in development without him.

A lot of the damage is done anyways though. Blizzard has seen massive shifts in who it employs the past couple of years.

There are plenty of people that think that game’s poor state, including balance and gameplay-centric issues, are Bobby’s fault.

He’s basically the heavy from tf2, with a mobility tool.

Not really much different then what we had with hog or orisa. He has effectively the same design DNA of those two.

If you have an issue with him, it’s probably because you need to turn your attention to his supports holding him up.

And not attempt to win a sustain war like if we were back at OW1.

This one is actually probably true. OW2 (Including the half baked change to 5v5) was a super rushed project because next to nothing was done. It’s almost like Kotick telling them to start and then scrap projects constantly sets back development significantly.

Case in point.

Blizzconline gameplay (Feb. 21) showed 5v5.

That’s irrelevant if they didn’t have time to work on it due to being taken off it constantly.

They scrapped PvE over two years ago. What else have they been working on?

Multiple failed projects that Kotick told them to work on. We’re not going to have every bit of internal information. What we do have though is that the team was constantly being pushed around by whatever he wanted. The end result of that is the launch state of OW2. I’m not going to pretend the team is perfect but if they’re constantly having massive setbacks because of one person then the product will be worse for it.

The hero missions were scrapped back in December 2022 actually.

And evidently that garbage design doesn’t work in ow2. You’ve got a tank who will always either be beyond broken, or complete garbage.

You either make him be able to sustain himself enough to be able to live to do anything (broken) or you nerf his sustain so he isn’t unkillable, but now he can’t do anything cause he blows up with his massive hitbox (garbage).

Yes! Just what we need! Another tank hero who is unkillable unless you completely ignore the tank and go for supports! (You go for supports and the mauga turns around and double miniguns your head in).

That’s still garbage design btw. When there’s literally no winning interaction you can have against the enemy tank because they just physically cannot die with any ounce of healing. Especially if you’re playing tank against him. You get melted while he farms self heal off of you so you have ZERO option other than going for supports.

Garbage.

You’re bringing that up like it’s new. One employee said that a few months of OW2 overtime was lost to some goofy projects, and all of the sudden the absolute nothing that OW2 is all because of Kotick. The game was in development for four years, by the way. Five if you pretend that “early access” stopped being a thing when season 6 launched like Blizzard does.

The PvE, which was the entire crux of the game, was an abysmal failure, and that wasn’t Bobby’s fault.

They pivoted focus nearly two years ago, and nothing has gotten better. After two years of PvP focus everything is getting worse all of the time, and the PvE is all but canceled. Bravo, Blizzard.

If you don’t like the direction this road is heading towards then why stay on the same road?
