Blurriness after changing graphic settings but not in replay

Hi, I’d really appreciate any kind of help or idea that could help me with this problem.

I have a 240hz monitor (Asus VG279QM IPS Gsync) and I’ve been playing Overwatch 2 on 240 fps with no issue ever since I started using it two years ago. No ghosting, no screen tearing, no blurriness.

Yesterday, after playing for 3 hours with no problem, I changed to graphic settings from low to ultra then back to low again. I’ve done this many times before. But this time, after changing the settings from ultra to low and restarting the game, characters, names, models, healthbars, airborne texts, anything that’s in my vision started to look blurry when I A-D strafe or move fast. This problem didn’t exist before. It looks like motion blur. It gets more noticable the closer I get and worse the faster things move.

Weirdest part is that it doesn’t appear in replays. There’s no blurriness in replays, the game looks perfectly fine, just like how it did before the problem. But when I play it myself, it’s still there. I have no idea why a problem that exists in my live gameplay doesn’t exist in the replay of the same gameplay.

Important info:
I did the UFO test for ghosting and there’s no problem. No blurriness or anything.
Only happens in Overwatch, everything still looks fine on other games (Marvel Rivals, Osu)
When I lower the fps to 60, blurriness disappears but it looks laggy.
I’ve been using the previous Nvidia driver (566.14) because the newest one (566.36) caused major fps drops, but like I said, it was fine all day. The problem started after changing the graphic settings from low to ultra, then back to low again.
I played with different settings from the Nvidia control panel but nothing helped, I reverted the 3D App settings for Overwatch 2 back to default but it didn’t fix it.

Things I’ve tried and didn’t work:

  • Restarting the PC
  • Checked cables, unplugged and plugged them back in (even though they didn’t even move)
  • Turned my second monitor off
  • Reinstalling the Nvidia driver I’ve been using with no problem (566.14)
  • Reinstalling the newest Nvidia driver (566.36) (didn’t fix and still major fps drops)
  • Scan and repair the game
  • Reinstalling the game
  • Turning Gsync on and off
  • Turning Low latency mode on and off
  • Turning Vsync on and off (both in game and Nvidia control panel)
  • Basically tried changing every Overwatch in game graphic settings
  • Set the in game frame limit to 230, 239, 250, 600
  • Enabled Nvidia Reflex in game setting
  • Tried various different settings from Nvidia control panel 3D settings tab for Overwatch. (Gsync, low latency mode, vsync, max frame rate) There could be settings I haven’t tried that maybe you know and could help.
  • Reverting the 3D settings of Overwatch from Nvidia control panel back to default
  • Tried the UFO test, it looked perfectly smooth with no problem or ghosting

Please help me if you have any idea what could be causing this problem and how to fix it, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

EDIT: I figured it out, it’s because of my second mouse’s polling rate. If you have a mouse polling rate lower than 1000hz, this blurriness problem occurs on high refresh rate. I use 2 mouses, 1 for gaming (Logitech G305) 1 for anything besides gaming. I turn off my Logitech G305 when I close the game because it’s scroll wheel is broken and I use my other mouse, it’s a regular HP brand mouse and it doesn’t have a 1000hz polling rate. So when I relaunched the game while my G305 was off, the game registered the HP mouse as my main mouse and since it didn’t have a 1000hz polling rate, this problem occurred. It’s now fixed whenever I launch the game with my G305 on.

I recommend reporting this in Bug Report

You may not receive a response to specifically troubleshoot the issue, but it will put it on developer radar.

Can you post a video? Also post a screenshot of “Video” options and the “Graphics Quality” options.

Check your DLSS setting, resolution and render scale? DLSS specifically has made my game blurry before because it’s not for 1080p monitors.

Also change to these settings:
Gsync, vsync → off
Dynamic render scale → off
Render scale → custom, 100%
Triple buffering → off
Reduce buffering → on
Nvidia reflex → enabled (without boost)
Texture quality → medium
Low latency mode (in Nvidia control panel) → on (not ultra)

I recorded a video but when I upload it to a site the refresh rate doesn’t match the video’s so both videos just look the same with no difference.

I can’t post links here but my in game graphic settings are like this:
