Bluetooth mics NOT working in Voice Chat - Xbox

hey yall,

(disclaimer, this is technically a technical issue, but i feel like it gets ignored in there so dropping in gen lol)

just your friendly neighborhood console pleb Trashbag here!

This has been a consistent issue on xbox for at least a year if not more, it wasnt really game breaking as many people just use xbox parties for comms, weve always done this cuz we had too as VC wasnt consistent. NBD!

however, now w crossplay, this actualy is an issue, as i cannot invite a PC or PS friend to a party chat, thus we NEED to be able to use OW voice chat.

The issue is OW doesnt “see” your mic. The headset works fine, i can hear game sounds, and it works in the party like normal. It even puts me in VC, says im in there w the others, and i can even see people talking in the top corner, but i cannot speak nor hear them even tho im in VC.

The odd part is, this is more of an issue for bluetooth headphones. A way to get around this with a wired mic is to turn off your console, and then turn back on with mic already plugged in when turning on. For some reason, when its already in when booting up, once you get into OW then it suddenly can see the mic…

very odd, and frustrating because that means i have to use an old headset when crossplay grouped with friends.

Is this a known issue to the devs? feel like it must be a quick fix, because no other games have this mic issue.

some deets in case needed: xbox one S, headset is xbox series X headset (the new one), fios internet, asus router (although its def not an internet/settings issue)

any info, or other tricks on how you got your wireless mic working, would be amazing

Thanks yall!

gl hf,

This is annoying and really hurts the ability to be sociable on console. A complete power cycle on your console usually fixes it but it can happen again seemingly for no reason. Also an issue that some people may be trying to talk and have no idea they aren’t, or bother to fix this.

Btw not just a wireless issue, happens on any mic from my experience (2 wired and one wireless for me). Started happening after an update but it was so long ago I dont remember what update.

Basically that. Make sure your headset is connected when you turn on the console.

When I played on console my wireless headset wouldn’t even work at all unless I plugged it in via the little cable that came with it :frowning:

It just refused to connect ever
