Blocking system sugestion : Triiger Warning grooming

So last year i was 16 years old and i met a dude, who was 21, while playing overwatch. He liked me and wanted to became my friend. We exchanged insta and starting talking. Logically the guy was grooming me, he started telling me that he was depressed, wanted to d_e, that he tried to Harmed himself in the past, and sended me a video where he harmed himself and said “That’s something that i did when my ex broke up with me”. Besides that he asked me where i lived and for nudes, to which i said “no” frequently.
When i understood what was going on I blocked him everywhere, including on overwatch, but sadly that doesn’t stop him from being in my games nor in my team or in my group and even though this sound impossible, it just happened to me. I was playing comp with my boyfriend and this disgusting men was on my team. Even though i couldn’t hear him or see if he texted something, the simply thought of him being there made me super uncomfortable, anxious and scared…And i really dont want to feel like this while playing my favorite game (literally, i play over since 2016…and i also dont wanna stop playing because i have fear of this men showing up in my lobbies).
So blizzard pls, i beg you to change this system and make it impossible for people that we have blocked to be in the same lobby/game/team/group, because this can be a triggering experience.
My parents didn’t let me meet him in person, and im really thankfull (since i would probably end up being), but not everyone has this luck, and it’s not correct to “force” this victims to play with people that traumatized them in any type of way.

Have you tried opening a ticket with Blizzard CS to explain this to them? They might be able to do something. You can also ‘avoid as teammate’ in the meantime.

You absolutely need to report their account for abuse. This is serious. If he’s done this to you I can almost guarantee he’s done the same thing to others. He needs a permaban.

my only question is how do you know the person you met in game later on is the same person as before if you have him blocked?

unless he had a 1 in a million name or outright said “HEY IM THAT GUY” its always possible you met someone who shared that name particularly if it was a popular name or a auto-generated name.

edit: this is assuming its on PC, because atleast on PC your name can be anything you want and then they add “hidden” numbers that make up your bnet tag.

so for instance a person could be Bob#2350 then another could be Bob#6436 but these are two different bobs and both would show up in game as Bob.

Why do that?

edit: In all seriousness. I am not blaming you, but out of actual curiosity why does this sound like an enticing idea ever. Maybe what I am asking makes more sense if you know it is coming from someone who can make friends easily, but would rather almost never have any social interaction. What is the reason to extend any in-game interaction into anything outside of the game?

This isn’t twitlonger and has nothing to do with the game, maybe try reporting stuff and then continuing legally instead of coming to the overwatch forums of all places for attention.

i knew it was him because i remembered his name so, when i saw him on my team, i clicked on him and said that i couldn’t send him messages because i had him blocked. And he was the only person that i’ve blocked with that name.

I’m a person who has a hard time making friends, in real life and online, especially because i’m not very social. So when this dude said that he thought i was funny and wanted to became friends I was naive and extremely happy. Besides that i’m also young, and sometimes that makes us be carefree. I guess this were also the reasons that made me keep talking to him besides the constants red flags xd

it’s simple, you didn’t avoid him as much as you thought you did. you both play the same game.

block list is infinite, therefore you can manipulate the entire queue system if you wanted to.

what’s important?

Yeah i avoided him.
I didn’t know that something like that was possible. I will search on this and see if something can be done about it.
Thank you for your help

I don’t think they’d add a full block, because that would affect match making (even worse than it is now). People would simply block people for one bad game over and over until queue times are endless.

I do think you should send in a ticket to CS to report his behaviour.

the caveat is that it only lasts for 3 days. you would have to repeat it as such.

i don’t like obsessives myself, they seem to get in the way of life and as you can see life seems to allow it.

I didn’t know that was possible, i will try to send a ticket to see if they can do something about this.
Thank you so much for your help!

Okay uncalled for, stupid and not cool.
For once can some of you stop trying to be edgy, If you don’t want to offer help to someone who is clearly trying to reach others for help then please politely stay out of this.
