Michael Chu confirmed that Soldier 76 identifies as gay, as does Vincent. To even think they would play it off as a joke is… really, really silly, they would not disservice one of the more impactful moments of Bastet like that nor would they insult their fanbase. Why even speculate that that would happen?

Because speculating about things is fun, and a big part about the fun of revealing the lore, small things such as this, or bigger things such as the next hero and how they will fit in, and the ties they have with the rest of the cast
That’s all good fun and all but this is about the same level as “speculating” that all the characters are actually horses, and it was just a joke that they were presented as humans. Like, it’s so against how Overwatch’s story has been played out, and we have the writer himself confirming these specific details. What exactly is there to speculate? It’s obviously not a “joke” that Soldier 76 is gay.

Why are you in denial? Nothing about the scene made it seem like a joke. The head writer confirmed he was gay. And Blizzard doesn’t have a history of joking like this.

To me, i dont accept anything really, i think the canon story is cool, but i have my own way of thinking about almost every part of it, from hanzo and genji being brothers, to small things such as Hammond actually being a tiny omnic hamster being controlled by winston.
