Blizzard, Your Aim Acceleration Penalty on Console is the worst thing I seen added to any console shooter in my life

Done multiple posts about how bad the Aim Assistance is but what is the real problem is this terrible acceleration I have uniquely found in this game after years playing (On all Modes so Linear, Expo, Dual).

For those that dont play PC and console - aim assistance isnt aiming for you, it just works like anti-mouse acceleration and how you can hold the mouse in a position. Anyone who plays PC knows how annoying mouse acceleration is.

In this game, they have added some feature where if you move the look stick, the movement stick and shoot it makes your crosshair leap. Surefour has already shown this weird acceleration penalty in a video about aiming for Overwatch so it a feature. I have no idea why Blizzard thought this was a good idea for the console – any other shooter on the console(s) you will find either no flinching, recoil or flinching but not this weird aim acceleration that is unique for Overwatch. It basically means you have to be completely still or move not shooting, moving and looking at the same time and not even touch your controller. It essentially a system designed for Mouse and Keyboard, not a Controller (combined with their trash Aim Assistance lagging behind or pulled from targets), but can be more easily controlled with a mouse. It basically makes the entire aiming element of this game on consoles inefficient.

When you do Look, Move and Shoot you will find your crosshair leaping over enemies. So this basically can screw up any aiming and evasion with the shooting. To play on the Console you literally do have to aim, shoot, move and look at the same time. In all my years and years of playing Console. I have never come across this weird acceleration penalty feature that is completely unworkable with the controller’s stick because it just messes up aim assistance and a small distance of travel with the sticks in reference to the screen (unlike mouse having a whole desk and great aimer control). It also why Pharah is hard to hit more on consoles because Aim Assistance is trash, this weird acceleration penalty which means you have to be completely still when shooting Pharah. With you being still it makes you an easy target to be hit by Pharah or enemies. Combined with a Pharah/Pharmercy duel you have to be mobile to keep up with her so looking and shooting, moving and then lagging aim assistance. This weird leap and aim acceleration still kick in when you have hard Aim Assist too. This then combined with a high mobility game like OW, yet to keep up with this high mobility the console player has to look, move and shoot at the same time but in doing so completely trigger an aim acceleration penalty and deal with a sluggish, lagging behind and easily jammed up aim assistance.

Sure it not impossible to still aim in OW console, just not very efficient with the controller and would be better with a mouse. It also why a lot of people on the console actual use a Mouse Adapter for this game. I have never seen this weird look, move, shoot aim acceleration penalty in any other game and it feels awful. I can play Destiny 2, or another shooter on console and this acceleration of aim when looking, shooting and moving doesn’t exist, plus all the other shooter games on console aim assistance works millions times better. Feel far more comfortable at the end of the day.

For extra information, I play both Console and PC.

I’m also a console player, and I’m not sure if I’ve experienced what you’re describing.

Out of curiosity, what are your aim settings? Personally, I’ve found the aim assist much less egregious when I turned the window size down, and I know the aim styles have quite a large impact on stick acceleration.

Regardless, I agree it’d be great if the devs can target more changes towards the console specifically.

Guarantee you that you have, and if you try it now you will see it. I am a PC and console player and this acceleration feature was already demonstrated in the game by Surefour (Pro PC Player) as a penalty to players when you move and shoot at the same time. The issue is that on consoles the moving, looking and shooting at the same time triggers the penalty of acceleration which doesn’t work on consoles. It a feature blizzard put in to make you stand still and shoot. It just doesnt suit consoles because it doesnt match the control scheme.
