We cannot hope for a game that will never be released, and have 0 information on it. Can we at least have some insight? I want to know why we have gotten nothing for so long, only to be dragged through the mud again with another delay.
Best we can do is a character’s new look see ya in 3 months.
It’s kind of strange; what DOES Activision-blizzard have to show in terms of IPs for next year?
- Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch are all in stasis.
- Hearthstone and WoW are most likely going to get, maybe, two to three updates next year.
Otherwise, there’s not much for this company next year. Unless they decide to release a new IP?
…
Blizzard giving more new info is just fuel to the fire of complaints about OW2 not being released already.
This never fails.
Probably more dev logs for overwatch 2.
and honestly, even WoW is hurting for content right now. Shadowlands has been the most scarce in updates the game has been since Warlords of Draenor(which is often regarded as the worst expansion because of a lack of content).
Normally we would be getting an expansion in 2023 based off previous release schedules. Now we’ll get one, maybe two, content patches.
but hey, if they’re gonna do announcements during what would have been Blizzconline in February maybe they’ll announce WotLK Classic servers to distract the WoW playerbase.
Apparently, something called ,“Project: Iris” was patented by Activision-blizzard, along with other project names, but I highly doubt they’d be in a presentable state (a trailer/teaser) by next year…?
Not sure we will even get that in 3 months. I wouldn’t bet money on it…
Well I hope on it still, since dev updates is the only thing actually keeping the community from full on dying.
The last time they revealed some progress, people just complained about it. I’m no longer convinced that a steady stream of information into their development process is in any way useful. People are just too ignorant about the game development process to look at anything in an unfinished state and not just whine nonstop about it.
Just cause some people complain doesn’t mean they should go completely silent.
The best thing probably would have been to just not announce Overwatch 2 until it was significantly closer to release and keep giving Overwatch 1 its regular content updates until that time.
but then neither of those things happened.
If it causes more harm than good, then they probably should. People do not understand that stuff is a work in progress, and constantly nitpick the little details.
Most game developers are quiet about their game for good reason.
I agree they should’ve waited longer for the initial reveal, but I really don’t think they are obligated to continue regular OW1 updates even if they didn’t announce it. They certainly could’ve handled the messaging a lot better, though.
What harm? This is a huge billion dollar company.
Harming the image of your product by having all the negative Nancys and Karens of the internet constantly belittle every aspect of what you reveal because it’s not done.
Despite what they have shown, there are still people here saying things as stupid as calling OW2 a “glorified balance patch”
It has nothing to do with if they’re obligated to do it or not.
In today’s world if you want people to stay interested in your game you need regular content updates even if it’s only a new hero and a new map here and there. No new content, and interest along with your playerbase dwindles.
Which Blizzard’s business model includes wanting people to pay for mtx like loot boxes. That means needing to keep player interest in your games.
Dont get me wrong - I’m certainly not saying “It’s a good idea they stopped releasing new content” or anything like that. I agree completely with your statement, and I think the way they handled OW2 it was very poor. I’m by no means making excuses for that.
But I disagree with the idea that tends to make circles around here in particular that the devs somehow owe us regular updates. Like the other thread suggesting the devs are “holding content hostage” - like no sorry. If the devs want to shift focus 100% to OW2 and not release any new content, that’s their choice to make. If players are displeased and leave the game as a result, then that’s their loss. The players aren’t losing anything - you’re just not getting something that you felt like you were owed. I think the free to play model of regular updates has really spoiled a lot of people.
You should see fighting games.
To be honest , the last Livestreams and video updates they did , they presented some good obvious things like new maps modes heroes , but they also presented some staff I don’t like at all , I’m not excited at all about the direction they’re taking the game into .
We hear you loud and clear. For the time being here is a beautiful skin that our developers spent months making. It’s available with Overwatch League tokens, so support your favorite Overwatch League team by buying it!
