Noticed a lot of my teammates in my quick play matches act like AI or NPC’s. For example, Reinhardt charging into the enemy team and going behind cover so he can’t be healed, and dying in 3 seconds. Happened for the entire 5 minute match.
DPS refusing to look behind them when their healers are being dove and continue to move forward when their healers are dead and they are being attacked behind without noticing.
They also have strangely generic names like “Spooky” or “Box”. I refuse to believe that I’m not playing with NPC’s or AI’s when I see interactions like this. I really think they are using bots to reduce the queue times.

Not just qp, comp, arcade. Pretty much everything but custom games. Not enough players and they don’t want to lose any more due to ultra long queue times. However the will never admit to adding bots to matches.

Most likely new players. Maybe it could be bots so they can join comp?.

If i queue into a lobby far above my skill levels, i probably look like a bot too.
Everyone looks like a bot to someone else.

Sorry, but most players are just bad at the game.

Its a possibility. Ive definitely seen my fair share of players that look like bots on DM over the years. Its super obvious with them because they all go torbjorn, throw down a turret, and then make the most random movements while not shooting.
They’re just bots that account sellers use to unlock comp. Happens a LOT with Mercy bots in qp too. Says a lot about a hero if it’s the most common bot hero…
No bots, just jank with the matchmaker. Blizzard refuses to address the trash matchmaker and that’s why the whole debate we saw with Flats and Svb is just moot. Nothing will work without a proper matchmaker giving balanced teams, in any mode.
I highly doubt that blizzard would add bots to their game as it would probably cost them more to do that and more time to really implement it (and blizzard likes to cut corners and save money anywhere they can). Id argue that it truly is the matchmaking system not being consistent (for both teams) and you’ll end up with wildly differently skilled players every time. Sometimes you get placed in with the right people and then sometimes… not so much. Further arguing, I’d say the quick play matchmaking is more lenient with matching skilled players together than the competitive matchmaker since quick play isn’t as high stakes. All speculation of course
Even the bots don’t play that bad.

I don’t know if you’ve been in vs AI recently, but the AI Rein knows how to cliff-charge players… so no, it’s not AI, just newbies.
It’s so easy to forget: we were all new once.
I don’t think you’re getting bots to keep queues short, you’re getting new players to keep queues short.
