Blizzard, stop GATEKEEPING DATA

devs said genji is doing fine and has a good pickrate, if a hero in GM (im gonna go off of data and the only data we have which is overbuff because i know alot of you love to meat ride it to prove your arguments) who has a 8.11% pickrate appears LESS in top 500 than a hero in GM whos pickrate is 6.11% and i mean WAYYYYY less, that is not good, i GENUINELY want to see the data which led blizzard to this conclusion, because there is no bloody way that genji is doing fine in his current state without nano or damage boost coming into play, especially in consideration with his GM to top 500 pickrate ratio where hes almost non existent in top 500 leaderboards but according to overbuff hes the third most picked GM hero

Oh no!

Scary caps letters.

Now the devs are sweating.

Top500 is dependent on specialists and is not a metric for looking if heroes are fine or not. Look at GM if you want to know this and like you said, Genji is fine.

^you you do realize this has nothing to do with how your thinking about overbuff right? I mean it has something to do with in the sense that yes these games DO happen. So is your argument ā€œHe can’t do anything without damage boost Abilitiesā€ or ā€œHis stats pick and win rate have to be a lieā€

Him receiving a damage boost in some of his games, combined with the games he wins without them would make those stats completely true actually…

I swear I think people just want to look for something to discredit and overbuff is like the easiest target (Maybe old overbuff but new overbuff hasn’t been off beat even once in ow2).

Your argument dosen’t even have anything to do with them really, it more seems like ā€œgenji is not in a good spot because needing a damage boost and special treatment isn’t the sign of a good hero/good designā€

it is not, top 500 solely relies on meta heroes or extremely skilled individuals playing off meta like necros.

actually, it is, because when we look at the pickrate to placement ratio for GM and top 500 players, widow, who has a lower pickrate than genji in GM knocks genji out the wazoo in top 500 placement, and its not even funny how much she does so, top 500 is a rank only meta players can get into or extremely skilled off meta players.

genji is not fine, he is definitely among the worst DPS in the game

when did i say his stats are a lie? i said that genji is definitely not doing fine, because his GM pickrate to top 500 placement ratio is horrible, hes one of the most picked heroes in GM but barely shows up in top 500, which is not normal, this is how you analyse data and compare to other heroes, like widow and ashe and sojourn, who mind you, all have a lower pickrate than genji in season 4 yet still FAR outplace him in top 500 and tracer who has a slightly higher pickrate than genji is one of the most placed heroes in t500, despite having NEAR identical pickrates 8.76% vs 8.97%, tell me, how does this in any way not prove genji is a throw pick?

my argument is that data from overbuff shows otherwise to what blizzard said about genji being fine, which hes not.

The data you are trying to compare is not comprable because t500 is either minmaxers or one tricks.

The data from Overbuff is of GM as a whole. T500 is a microscopic part of an already very small population sample.

And none of Overbuff’s data says otherwise. You are just complaining that he isnt THE top hero in t500.

This is prime ā€˜ā€˜Genji mains think that ā€˜fine’ means 1# DPS Hero’’. Him being 3rd place across Plat to GM is more than fine.

Imagine complaining about being Genji being ONLY the 3rd best DPS hero in most of the ladder. Genji main problems.

Genji’s fine right now, he’s just not favored by the current meta. When dive makes a comeback again he’ll see play just like tracer. I would like to see him a little better since mercy is incredibly annoying and he preys on mercy players, but I’d rather see a weak dive character than an overbearing dive meta.

This is such a funny thing to say because then he must be grossly overpowered to be played so much despite not being favored by the meta, or the meta is actually favoring him. Which considering that Ball dive is the meta right now… well. yeah.

ā€œminmaxers or onetricksā€ you just proved my argument, thank you.

top 500 shifts ALOT, you would be surprised, ive been in and out of it more times than the amount of fingers i have on my hands, whats key is consistency, genji is CONSISTENTLY low placed in top 500, across ALL regions

actually, all of overbuffs data says otherwise, because in lower elos he has a less than 1% pickrate and in higher elos his pickrate may be high but his top 500 placement ratio is godawful

No, you are lying through your teeth and seething with rage that you cant use overbuff as a source because it proves you wrong, genji is one of the worst characters to climb with in ladder, you have to be extremely skilled with him to climb above masters

that is not the problem, tracer is a dive character, dive is not meta, but her pickrate to placement ratio is extremely good, she is nearly the FACE of top 500 in dps

why does genji, a hero who has 8.74% pickrate in gm, which is third highest, appear less than widow who has a 6.11% pickrate in gm, in top 500? the math is not mathing

Genji will always be played regardless, just like mercy. He’s one of the top picked characters for the game consistently

ball is not meta, get out of season 3 bro

I didnt. Your definition of ā€˜ā€˜fine’’ seems to be ā€˜ā€˜top DPS hero’’ and not ā€˜ā€˜average or slightly above average’’ like it means to everyone but Genji mains.

He has been, at the very worst, still above average. There are several DPS heroes with way worse t500 rep since OW2 released.

But also, again, t500 is not representative of anything.

Here I thought that Genji mains were more than fine with genji being trash in low ranks if it meant he was good in GM.

Because that is literally what is happening right now. Actually, no. He is still above average or ā€˜ā€˜fine’’ in Bronze to Gold.

The lowest he is right now is above average.

Like, the same site you are citing shows him as 8th most picked out of 17, and 5th highest winrate out of 17 in Bronze. It only goes up from there.

He is fine at worst, and a top ladder meta pick most of the time.

No, you did, because t500 is made up of minmaxxers or otps, when genji is a highly picked hero with an extremely large OTP community, one of THE largest, when he has an EXTREMELY low placement for top 500, this indirectly proves my argument.

you are actually dumb to think this, ok lets ignore his pickrate ratio to placement ratio and talk about his damage numbers and utility, genji has the worst utility out of every other flanker dps in the game,
genji has the lowest sustain damage or DPS in the dps role
his effective range is slightly higher than reapers yet reaper does far more damage both in sustain and burst

it is, you are only saying that so it favours your narrative ā€œgenji is fine because i said soā€

where did i say that?

and? his pickrate doesnt show that hes being used all that much in the lower elos so even if he is ā€œabove averageā€ in low elo, nobody can or wants to play him cause he simply is too hard mechanically and game sense wise and the only thing lower elo genjis do is spam double jump and get away with it because nobody can aim in that elo and neither can they, thats why moira is their biggest counter.

He isnt and the data proves it.

and? what part of that changes the fact that hes one of the highest picked heroes yet is almost nowhere to be found in top 500?

my guy, his pickrate to placement ratio has been worse than torb and meis for 2 seasons straight making this one the third
