StarCraft 2 used to be the biggest e-sport by a mile. Blizzard introduced an expansion heart of the swarm.
This expansion introduced a new unit called “swarm hosts” these units were easy to use and drastically slowed the game down.
The game became less enjoyable to watch and play. Pro players started retiring… ECT ECT…
Sponsors put money into other games like league of legends …
That’s how the story ends.
Fast forward to when ow was game of the year to current ow.
The same critical error was made again

there was this Syberbolt video talking about the same issue (may he rest in peace)
edit syberbolt aint ded he’s just a paladins ytber now
If they learned literally any lesson from any of their mistakes, this game would be A LOT better.
Activision “maybe it’ll work this time” Blizzard

I knew I hadn’t seen a syberbolt video in a long time, but i thought he just retired from YT…
I am guessing from your post that he passed away… dammit the good ones always go young…
…
well no, he just went to paladins and made content for that game until the game devs themselves started trying to shut him down bcz they didnt like being criticized.
but he’s doing well and memeing on twitter.
drop him a follow
Eh I really don’t think BLizzard learns from any their past mistakes. I mean they had a hit game like Starcraft with a fairly popular expansion. So they wait a decade or so to release SC 2.
Same with Diablo, D 1 and 2 came out huge success and it took a decade for D3.
oh thank god haha.
I don’t really use twitter but ill boot it up and give him a follow.

What happened was that Syberbolt wanted to be a verified account by Hi-Rez, but they wouldn’t let him be one because of the way he always insults the competence of the developers. So now he’s just having this mental breakdown on twitter about it.
See what I want to know is how Blizzard plans on recovering all of those OW creators they have lost - I’m here watching even Overwatch Central launching secondary channels, others rebranding to ‘Hitscan’ and whatever ~ like, EVERYONE is fleeing. The only streamers I ever see on Twitch anymore are like, the smaller ones, the viewership numbers are way down.
Overwatch is a triple A game by one of the most world renowned game companies in the world and it’s REGULARLY getting watched less on Twitch than Tetris. No joke. Tetris. Like, it’s not even in the first two rows pretty regularly anymore, there are indie games that are regularly beating it out for attention. That’s a bad sign.
Ya it’s kinda spooky how so many creators have so little to work with that they’re just starting secondary channels or leaving. On stream Emongg once compared it (people leaving) to having no friends to eat lunch with, and then you meet a bunch of really cool people and you finally have a friend group to eat lunch with… and then they all stop coming to lunch or get sent to different lunch periods, and you’re all alone again. It was depressing
I have no doubt they’ll reignite the content creation + stream viewership side of things for a while when OW2 releases but if they don’t really honor a faster update schedule it won’t last long. Even if they do pump out content, it’d be so easy for horrible balance to drive everyone away again (from the streaming perspective, at least).
I mean look at what happens when people come back after months or years of playing right now. How long do they stay? For a couple weeks at most. Is a new gamemode, some heroes, and a few maps really gonna change that? Unless there are major changes, I don’t really think it will.
nah, i followed the whole story, they refused to give it to him after he said and i quote luna is a point cck mutt*
they said he was toxic (despite never being punished in the game) and refused to give him the mark, when other marked players are actively threatening players in the game.
also if u watch his content its pretty much feedback with a grain of salt.
