Although, role queue was a great addition to the game, the long DPS queue is slowly killing it. There are many reasons as to why the DPS queue is long, however, we cannot ignore that perhaps the biggest factor is the amount of heroes in each role pool. Having a pool of sixteen heroes to pick from vs. eight and the most boring hero in the game being the must-have tank is the obvious reason for the long DPS queue. This is evident as the queue gap between support and tank is insignificant compared to the queue gap between DPS and support.
Only two things are needed to have equivalent queue times; 1) balanced hero pools between the three roles, and 2) making tanks more fun to play.
The first one is easy, balance a few DPS heroes into the tank and support category, Mei, Symmetra, Doomfist and Sombra are easy candidates and should be enough to balance pools.
Mei: Give her more hp, reduce her freeze rate and eureka she is a tank. She does not do much damage anyway (even when compared to Zarya etc.)
Symmetra: Was a support to begin with, tweak her the support direction instead of the DPS route As it was wrongfully done (Maybe the turrets can heal). It seem that her gimmick is to provide shields. She used to to give shields to players very similar to Brig now.
Doomfist: He has quite a bit of shields already, if his shields get buffed and we get rid of the one punch kill he would have a similar play-style to Hammond
Sombra: Pros used her a 2nd support the before GOATS era, make her be able to hack allies for a mini-nanoboost or something similar.
Anyway those are my two cents. If you agree please boost this post. It would even open the doors again for Blizzard to release new DPS heroes.

Wow, this is so true.
The last year of hero releases has been tanks and healers.
Mei and Sombra don’t even do any damage, Sigma and Zarya beat them by so much.
I would main Sombra if she were a not-throw-pick-support.
I love Sombra, but I can only play for 1 hr per day. And I do not have the luxury of burning 20 of my 60 minutes just waiting for a game.

How do we get our uncle (Jeff Kaplan) to see this?
Those hero rework are very simple and would make the game so much better.
Welcome, Hammond + Doomfist dive!
Jeff Kaplan has a chance to make Overwatxh great again with this suggestion, if he only read the forums.

And Sigma gets the superior ult that is a strictly better Grav, more range on his left click, a super strong barrier, a huge hitbox stun that can only be stopped by barriers and a ludicrous splash range. And as if that wasn’t enough, he can eat ults like Dva…

It provides freedom again.
When the game was originally created we had a balanced hero role pool… For those who remember the release with 5 Tanks, 5 Offense, 5 Defense and 5 Support heroes. Moreover, since forever we have been playing 2-2-2 as the standard como, the only difference now is that it is enforced.
I’m all for increasing the numbers but reworks… Overwatch very rarely has success with reworks, Torb worked out well but every other turned out less than desirable at best, moth Mercy at worst.
Albeit I would say Sombra needs one, not to shift her categories, she has problems of her own.
Can we make Mei a CC support? She can hand out Bao as healing items or something. I’d love to play a character like that.
The only problem I see with this is size of heroes. Tanks have giant hitboxes by design. So do we make Mei the size of Reinhardt? That would creep me out
If anyone becomes a Tank, make it bastion.
Not that I think he’d make a good Tank - but then I ‘d be able to instalock bastion anytime I see an instalocking DPS Hog. Force him to play Main Tank. I’ll switch if he switches.
