Why do I keep getting teammates that go negative k/d, that do less than half my damage, that I get 3x the kills of, that heal 3k in 7 mins and die 11 times in 7 mins? Do you want me to just quit playing your game? Solo is TERRIBLE. It is an utter garbage experience. Please do something because I am just about done. Like I understand I can’t win every game, and I don’t expect to, but the matchmaking is literally deciding wins before the match even starts.
There is NO way that you mirror player skill if one tank can make tons of space, and the other can’t. There is NO way you mirror player skill if one team has two dps that are doing 1k+ per min damage and going 12 - 4 but only one dps on the other team can do the same. There is NO way you mirror player skill if the supports on one team heal 10k in 8 mins and die 2 times while the supports on the other team do 4k and die 9 times in 8 mins.
Like I have said many times before, the gameplay is top notch, but you are throwing it out the window with this terrible matchmaking. This is probably going to be my last season if nothing substantial changes next season.
I have played 3 games today, and literally every game my tank was gapped so wide you could fit the moon in the space. Like come on. What a joke of a game.
Sure there is. You can guarantee that those tanks in the aggregate are equal just like with the DPS and Support. However what you cannot guarantee, without the type of rigging people falsely accuse Blizzard of doing, is that they are going to be equal on that map with your team comp playing against their team comp.
There is no way to deal with the variance of skill across maps and heroes and comps. That can only be dealt with over time on average.
The purpose of the match making system is not to create even fights. It’s to make you addicted to playing the game. So it’ll string you along with a few losses and then throw you an easy win like casinos do with their slot machines.
You’ll win just enough to keep you trying, but not enough to satisfy.
That is the purpose of their matchmaking system. And because that’s their purpose, they view their matchmaking system as a success.
I have seen people and the devs try to explain the matchmaker probably atleast a dozen times. I still don’t understand it. But it feels so terrible.
I don’t remember the last time I had a Comp game that was close. They’re all either Stomp or Get Stomped. And I still don’t understand what ranks are even for if I can have GM’s and Golds in my Diamond games.
This makes the most sense tbh. I keep forgetting they only care about profits and I’m sure the current system makes much more of it than a system where making sure the matches are more balanced would. It is a shame I didn’t play OW1 more than the like 20 hours I did in like 2016 when it first came out. Oh well.
Lets not forget the growing problem of Gold & higher making it into bronze lobbies making it harder for bronze rank to climb and get out ESPECIALLY if you’re solo que on Support. Your teams DPS is going 0-15 while the enemy DPS is going 40-2 its just not fair, I’ve been involved in many of these games and while sometimes it’s evenly matched its more times NOT matched than matched, and this is what makes the experience crappy. You also have the growing problem of smurfs grinding people out of bronze, forming whole 5 stacks to rise and play with their friends rolling over the legit people trying to climb without stacking. People get hard stuck in bronze because its just too hard to get out, match making keeps giving you crappy teammates who can’t get a kill to save their soul, I’ve already reported this issue with screenshots of people actively admitting they were higher ranked in a bronze lobby. Blizzard, get your act together please
well its a terrible system to me getting a single win after 15 - 20 stomps is not going to keep me around i wonder why it puts im in such terrible games for so long is it cause im Australian with 100 - 150 ping average when the interenet is stable
i very much miss overwatch 1 back when i had to deal with only 40 - 60 ping on a good day
match maker has been a total failure since Q4 of 2017. Players wanted groups to be prioritized and they did it and guess what it did… it crushed the game.
To be perfectly clear. I want to play OPEN Q against solo players and with Solo players, and like-minded Solo Q players that are in it for the fun of the game. NOT the repeatedly obscenely vulgar stacked teams that it keeps putting me with that want to play in a competitive mindset.
Nothing against the players. But i think we can both agree. I dont want to be there, and they dont want me to be there.
Blizzard has this deliberate system which a person can easily figure out. That wants to put players repeatedly up against hardcore teams and truthfully it is unethical to steer matches that way.
5v5 and RQ make all of these problems occur more often and amplify the problems and make them so much worse. We need to undo this and let players have the tools to fix these issues again. I know for a fact the majority(the ones that quit) did not quit because 5 DPS and 1 healer games. With less agency than ever, there is just no way to really win.
Wow… he really tries to make it sound super deep like he’s trying to convince people he’s smart. A lot of word salad to avoid saying this team doesn’t know how to make the system work.
This is a really bad look at what they sit around their office doing, and why the game doesn’t work…
“like, yeah bro, just cause this gm player like, gets insane damage every time he plays, like, we can’t not put him in games with bronze players, cause like, maybe he ate a bad hot pocket and his vibes are low, and the silver player like, vibes well with the bronze player cause like, they both have 6 letter names, so like, yeah, maybe the GM player stomps the crap out of them, but like, the vibe in the game was chill and even based on their auras… so like we can’t shorten the range of MMR in a game, cause I made these pretty dots on a graph…”
That’s why people shouldn’t play to win. Ever.
It is demoralizing and on average you will give more than you get, no matter how many years you spend perfecting your skill. At the end of the day you just feel depressed and apathetic.
I recommend playing not to win, but to kills, fun, ruining the games, call anger and butthurt in chat by tea bagging, spawn killing, etc. In this case you will come out in a positive balance in the moral mood.
In this style of play, the winning team often does not feel victory, and writes ez and other things in the chat, which you then report and get even more satisfaction for the fact that they then get banned.
Because it’s an online game and if you can’t accept defeats, move on to another game.
Stop being salty people, underperforming and losing is part of the process, nobody is always perfect. Check streamers, they have games where they int their as$es off too.
Mmhhmmph,fooohh! Fuuh!
Well, matchmaking can be a disaster sometimes.Well, maybe wut you need is to accept it.look,if it’s gonna be all you who’s gonna be winning everytime & everytime.i dunno bro,I dunno whut sort of game OW is?
LOOk here bro.My entire team were 1 shot kill by widow today.I just watched their tank assist the robot push helplessly, while I past by & failed my attempt to kill the sniper.Widow pumping her shot from start till the end.
I gripped my fist hard, tears nearly roll out but I stayed chill.i zipped my lips, get my gut back & start a next game.Is dat hard to do it?
Go get your gut back & get back in there! D:"
I have a theory that the devs will not fix the matchmaker because this matchmaker keeps queue times low. Which was killing OW1. Sadly the have chosen poorly and the expirience is terrible.
You recommend playing to ruin games? Am I understanding you correctly?
Ok, “Sure there is.” I’m assuming you are responding to the statements the OP is making that “there is no way that you mirror player skill…”, correct? I had to figure that out because you tend to have a pattern of responding to a particular sentence in a post without letting anyone know which particular sentence you are responding to. You did this on another post of mine as well.
So you can guarantee that hose tanks in the aggregate are equal? How can you guarantee this? You’re stating this as settled fact. So I’m wondering how you know this.
In my matches, there is a tremendous variance in skill level in each game. Eloes are mixed by far more than ever. This started S3 and has continued ever since. Prior to that, most matches, you would never see people from several tier above or below each other in the same match. But now, literally almost every match I play has a mix of eloes anywhere from Silver to Master.
Well, I’m not sure what you mean by “deal with”, but I agree with you if you mean that you can’t completely eliminate those variances. But that doesn’t mean they can’t still improve matching simply by refraining from mixing eloes.
It’s really a very, very, very, very simple problem:
They are mixing eloes.
With a very, very, very, very, simply solution:
They should stop mixing eloes more than + or - one skill tier.
And continued from above, THIS, is imo as well, the exact reason they are refusing to fix the very, ver, very, very simple problem with a very, very, very, very simple solution. They are OBSESSED with low queue times and delusionally prioritizing it to the point that it is quite literally ruining the game for many players.
I mean, why be like that? Like what do you get out of being like that? Do you get satisfaction by being mean in general? Or by invalidating people’s posts? Why be that kind of person?
The OP is hardly the only person pointing out the enormous reduction in the number of quality matches currently in comparison to the past. Trying to deflect and invalidate the post by simply writing it off to it just being solely an individual problem of the OP not liking SBMM is utterly ridiculous and really just announces to everyone that you are one of those people that actually likes bullying, are a bully, believes in bullying, are openly mean and proud of it, and an all around toxic person.
So again, my question is, why be like that? Be better.
To the OP, all I can say is, you’re not imagining any of this regardless of the predictably countless number of people that always show up to make sure and try to tell you that you are.
And, to please go easy on those in your matches that are getting diffed. Trust me, as a lower ranked player myself that is constantly being forced to play with and against much, much higher ranked players against my own will, I promise you that it’s not fun for us either.
The root of the problem is quite simply the horrible decision by whoever at Blizzard made it, to start drastically increasing the mixing of eloes within each match, since the beginning of S3 and amazingly steadily allowing it to get worse and worse, despite telling us the polar opposite in their dev blogs, streams, and tweets.
A sad truth that will continue to be ignored because so many players convinced themselves that forced roles improved the game simply because GOATS died or because they stopped getting teammates who locked dps.
It’s incredible that these people haven’t figured out that matchmaking equal player skill across three different role populations doesn’t work. It never has. Meanwhile, actual roster balance is all this game needed to kill complaining about team comps. Not problematic role queue. The game is freaking F2P yet still can’t retain enough players to sustain matchmaking. It’s all painfully obvious.
