And yes I mean GRIEFING. I have a replay code if needed.
But so far I have been told to “K*ill myself” over voice
And in the game I had a code for I was deliberately, mask off griefed and called a F*****…
I know the system is automated, but does it really only ban if someone is mass reported? I have yet to get a “Action has been taken” notification since season 1
I’m moving on, but I’m curious if reports even work, I’m better off not wasting my time on them if they don’t.
It’s obvious why only 1 or 2 reports won’t do anything. As much as most of us probably want to take your word for it, it’s possible YOU caused this person to become so incensed as to resort to griefing / using slurrs. I’m not saying its right but I think we all know what I’m talking about - there’s a lot of passive aggressive weirdo’s in this game who like to constantly drop back handed comments that aren’t outwardly offensive but we all know you’re really fanning the fire lol. - but this is why it takes many reports.
So yeah, it does take mass reports… I get the “your report helps us bla bla” message every other time i log in tho SO idk man. I report all instances of over the top toxicity like “K.y.s” or racist / bigoted slurs but other than that I don’t bother.
EDIT: this might just be me but I think sh*t talking SHOULD be a part of comp a liiiiittle bit. Like in any competitive sport / game imo it just kinda gets you in the mind set. Obviously there is a line tho but I don’t mind people being “toxic” in chat / coms to try getting in peoples heads. I do it all the time but again - without crossing a line such as being racist / bigoted
Don’t get me wrong, I grew up with XBL and Halo. Trash talking isn’t the issue, slurs should be chat bannable and griefing should be a permaban IMO.
Yes its hard to prove griefing, but I mean cmon. Blizz has access to vods, voicechat, text chat of all parties in a match. A report should put a flag and then scan the last game both players participated in for stuff like this.
If I provoked this player to both grief AND call me that, we should both get chat muted. This is COMP tho, griefing, if proved. Should be a perma and in my case via the replay code its not “trolling” its looking at us using the “I need healing” at half health and saying “No”
It would require hiring more people to watch vods, when you can trust someone is griefing if 50 different people tell you they saw them griefing instead.
Also, permabans are really bad for business. If they’re smart, they’ll try to avoid permabans as much as possible.
Also, I’m sorry for you if you think someone who didn’t heal you right away deserves to be permabanned. Especially when you were rude to them. Respect other players and maybe they’ll respect you.
You’re being deliberately facetious, or you didn’t comprehend what I wrote.
Looking at your teammates, seeing them say “I need healing” and then EMOTING BACK, and saying the “No” emote, Is a deliberate choice. If you need easier context to understand, I watched the VOD. The player is LOOKING AT US, while the enemy team isn’t fighting us and DELIBRATELY saying the “No” voice line to us, while we are half health.
That. Is griefing. Maybe escalating temp bans, but its a F2P. It’s not like that player can’t just make a new account, ban’s deter players from abusing others online for sh*ts and giggles, and in a F2P game it’s not bad for business in the slightest, because that player IF THEY TRULY want to participate in the online space, can make a new account and not grief on it.
Notice how I clarify that trolling/playing poorly shouldn’t be bannable. But with all the metrics Blizz tracks, to believe they CAN’T prove someone is deliberately inflicting malice to other players online, is kinda absurd.
EDIT: Also I never said I was rude to them, I said if both the reporter and reportee are some degree of culpable, BOTH should be punished. Another player saying “Heal diff” and then being responded at “Nah, it’s a f*gg** diff” and then intentionally griefing THE WHOLE TEAM, because of one player? Nah that’s wild
Honestly, I would love if people used the acronym to mean that. I’m outta here though, I thought there would be someone here who followed the devs and knew how bans worked.
Imma just not waste my time I guess, wishing you all go 20 - 0
Although the negative words is not necessary. and people do go to far at times for sure. ill admit i do at times myself, but working on it. - You are just choosing to try to get someone in trouble because they hurt your feelings over some words. - If you CHOOSE to play a game. and cant handle feedback, you can also CHOOSE to play with the voice chat off. – People get worked up and say stuff. Especially on an ESports game all the time on every game ever. its competative and people dont do their part, and people have their own thoughts and opinions and dont understand things and they get frustrated. Its apart of being human. - Not sure why free speech should be taken away / bans etc for a account paid for, because you you are sensitive to things you can control to not look at. - but at the same time. if it gets toooo tooo too crazy. like legit harrasment/ hate speech etc. Then action should be taken. - but talking smack… next.
But you’re talking about one situation that happens once every blue moon. Just avoid that player and move on.
Say that to people who actually spent money on the game. Some whales spent thousands of dollars on it.
The moment it starts to be easy to get banned, they will stop putting money into the game.
Jokes aside, I agree with this 100%. I think mutes/blocks should account for 99% of a person’s dislike of someone else, with the 1% being global mutes on particularly vile accounts. Gameplay sabotage/griefing can only be handled with bans though. I’ve been chat banned multiple times and account suspended because I trash talk back instead of muting/blocking because it’s mutual at that point and victimless. I very rarely address anyone else without being prompted, and almost never in a negative capacity.
Ain’t gonna stop me, though. Gonna ban a free account on a free game
Same. It’s the best thing you can do, this game is not worth your time.
I reported almost everyone in all my matches for gameplay sabotage. Every time they fed into the enemy team 1v5, either on purpose or they’re too dumb to realise they’re on their own - it was a report. Some players were reported multiple times in a match.
Over six months, not a single notification that any action was taken. I don’t know if it’s different on PC, but certainly on console it’s clear they don’t care and reporting is a waste of time.
They recently admitted there was an issue where “thanks for reporting” notifications weren’t going out. 4 days ago, which is also when I found out about this, I got one of those messages upon logging in.
I don’t report a lot of people but I do report that sort of text chat you’re talking about. I guess I’m just fortunate enough to not encounter it as often, which probably just sadly indicates that I need to play more.
i see the “kys” one in rank a lot this community loves that one. all blizzard will do is mute their ability to chat in group, team, general. its called silence mode i believe. they’ll warn them about “keeping the community fun and safe blah blah blah” once days are served player is back to saying it again
