Blizzard Needs to Address Ximing

Recently there has been a massive influx of new accounts ximming and ximmers in general are worse than I’ve ever seen them at high ranks console overwatch. I’ve played the game for 6 years on console, and the problem is beginning to make the game completely unplayable at high ranks. I’m seriously considering just smurfing at this point. If Ximmers are going to ruin my games, then I’ll just go ruin lower rank games. I think the massive jump in Ximmers is probably due to R6siege finally addressing the issue. Anyways, blizzard seriously needs to address this, because all that’s going to happen is their most dedicated console players are all going to get so fed up(like me) that eventually we will find something else.

FYI: for those that don’t know what ximming is, ximming is a device that someone plugs into their console to trick the system into thinking the user is on a controller. This allows the user to play with a mouse and keyboard while also keeping aim assist. It’s insanely OP and extremely frustrating to play against as a player with integrity who uses a controller

They need to address it, but probably won’t. Console players are not a priority for this company, unfortunately.

They aren’t going to address it.

Get PC. The console community is a toxic cesspool a million times worse than what PC is. So much boosting, smurfing to troll/throw and overall toxicity, especially if your region is small.

Never going back to console lmao. (Also no terribly made aim assist that screws your aim half the time either)

The xim cheaters are on PC too, all they need to do is queue with a PC player.

Yeah, I’m definitely looking into getting a PC since I love gaming in general, and I want to play overwatch on pc because it just looks so much better. I’m just waiting until I finish school so I can move out before doing that

What was the thing called that apparently auto improved your aim, that people were complaining about before? Was it this? Sorry, I know this is random, but maybe you know what I’m referring to.

At least they only show up in quick play

Agreed.

It’s evident that Devs can take action. There needs to be a shift in the industry as a whole.

How would they be able to detect it though?

M&K should be allowed on console IMO. Let them be the top500 or whatever. I am not very sympathetic to controllers on shooters since it is an inferior piece of hardware for the game type.

these days it may be hard to tell as people can sometimes be mixed with pc players like console and pc players in the same lobby im not sure if its cause someone is playing with a friend or what but i think blizzard may have plans for stopping xim

Sure, but then they’d have to play against PC players in the PC pool rather than playing against console players. MKB is the superior input, and a well-built PC is far superior to a Console. I’m sure people would have so much fun running at a maximum of 45fps against someone on PC averaging over 200 frames per second.

One solution is they’d have to work with console manufacturers to sniff out HIDs of those products if connected to the USB ports, but even then that’s only temporary since it can be spoofed to report as a legitimate controller (which most of those solutions do anyway due to other games).

Another way is the Fortnite/R6S approach, any inputs that seem out of the realm of what a actual controller can do would be a possible flag, but again, there is ways around that already.

With cheating, it’s a cat and mouse game and these solutions will likely fall flat eventually until the developers up the ante again, and the cycle will repeat until the game is pretty much dead, things like this will never be fully addressed, rather, addressed for a short period of time before they need to go back and deal with it again.

Sorry I don’t believe that. Blizzard a 72 Billion dollar company and Microsoft and or Sony can’t address a hardware issue? Embarrassing

I say drop all console support and focus exclusively on the PC version. Problem solved!

Except that whole money problem. Corporate likes their bonuses, and PC alone can’t get them enough microtransactions and monthly active users.

Necro got em again

They should absolutely allow MnK, but there’d be no reason to not do input-based matchmaking and put console MnK players with PC players. Xim is not just MnK though. It is a device that allows MnK to be detected as controller input. That means it gets aim assist, and MnK with aim assist is practically just aimbot.

I’d even be fine with putting controller and MnK in same lobbies, but that doesn’t mean Xim would go away, just means it’d be your problem now too.

Addressing Xim won’t make them money so it won’t happen

Dammit I commented when I already commented that it was a necro.

i had one pc player today with 4 console friends that were most likely ximming, i think thye realize blizzard wont do anything about it so they abuse it… they need to get rid of crosssplay or let us opt out, tired of these cheaters ruingin the game further
