Blizzard must hate Sombra

"Hey guys, we fixed Sombra :D"
Community: “Thank you so much! she feels so much better to play as now and no longer sucks.”

“Hey, guys we nerfed Sombra because her pick rate increased a small bit. Enjoy and thank us later :)”

Community: “what the fudge?!?!”

Response: “ just deal with it.”

Note from OP: Technically the community sees this as constructive. Sombra did NOT need a nerf after her buff that made her viable.

The only reason Sombra was nerfed is that the “pros” cried for it.

Note: I do not want to see a Blizzard response because we have had enough lies about our feedback being used constructively for the general majority. If that was true, Sombra would not have been nerfed.

Literally every argument trying to defend Sombra nerfs just falls flat. It’s so dumb. But Blizzard is too full of themselves to ever admit a mistake and revert anything.

True. 20 characters.

EXACTLY, lol. Because god forbid something change the meta, a new character become a part of it, or a character that was previously hated (and obviously still is) can suddenly take people out with increased efficiency and they had to learn how to play against her again. I also wanna remind people as much as possible that a 2 second cooldown is unnecessary. If you can aim? You can shoot. If she’s getting shot? She can’t hack at all. Sooo…I’m still looking for that logic like Latoya Jackson with a magnifying glass.

Actually, the community responded by complaining (mostly from tank players) after they realized Sombra synergises well with dive and counters deathball.

The only complaint I can see as justified is that hack would complete in the middle of recall, when a shield was blocking it, or when enemies turned a corner - because that was a bit broken. Hack was sped up, so it made sense for them to remove the .1 second leniency that hack had. I’m a Sombra main - I agree that the leniency should have been removed to open more room for counterplay and blocking hack.

But…the 2 second cooldown thing. Like, that wasn’t a problem before the buff, now all of a sudden pros wanted her toned down even further.

It’s kind of crappy. I get pro players might have different experiences, but I hate the idea that 1% of the player population gets to influence how the other 99% plays out.

You mean after next to nothing changed about her playstyle and she was just brought up to par?

The only reason tank players complained so hard is because Sombra is a good tank counter, and obviously since “new buff” every random nub who has never even touched Sombra suddenly instalocked her every match.

She only counters it if she can hack Moira in time (read: before Moira sucks the life out of her because Moira can kill her even if she’s standing on her own hacked health pack. Moira nerf WHEN?) or deflect the deathball with her face because I know it’s likely NOT true that it’s magnetized to her…but hell if it doesn’t feel like it is sometimes.

It’s actually false that Sombra’s nerfs were primarily caused by the pros.

If I do recall, there were PLENTY of Supports & Tank players that were left frustrated by the Sombra changes and wanted something to be done.

Her being nerfed was not primarily caused by the pros, or Genji/Tracer-Mains, or Anti-Sombra players, or the whims of the devs.

It was a majority decision based off of different facets of the community.

Right? Oh no. Reinhardt can’t stand in front of Bastion with his immortal windshield for 6ever and DVa can’t blow up in the enemy team’s face every 30 seconds. What is this world coming to?

It was primarily the pros.

Some people’s reactions and suggestions for nerfs/buffs should be taken with the biggest grain of salt when it comes to the forums. Forum complaints are not a legitimate source of influence for developers to actually make changes to heroes. It was primarily the pros that caused this. Not solely, but a major influence.

The community responded to the buffs with outrage, mostly at the general lack of counterplay hack had. It wasn’t nerfs. It was a bugfix and a nerf.
I like sombra. I love playing her, but hacking people felt kinda cheap. There was almost never a time where I tried to hack and either failed, or failed and was unable to try again immediately with no real downside.
In fact the only times it happened where when I walked into a symmetra turret and then was focus fired by the bastion I was about to hack.

Except you have to consider, for every 1 person who posts a “nerf this” thread, there’s probably 50 people who are perfectly happy with how the character is, and thus don’t feel the need to go to the forums, wasting time posting about “This is fine, don’t do anything.”

It’s a skewed view of the community caused by a lack of represenation.

I figure if we complain enough, it’ll either be a Bastion situation where they revert this stupid decision or it’ll be a Mercy situation where they ignore us completely and mess her over so much that the game gets marched straight to the Recycle Bin/nearest GameStop/hole in the woods in which it will be buried. So let’s go, lol.

That did not ring true when Doomfist got nerfed and when Roadhog also got nerfed even though his pick-rate and win-rates showed that he was balanced.

In this case, the majority outweighed the minority considering that the Tanks & Support-Mains are a good percent of the population of the playerbase and not everyone can use Sombra.

I’m not talking about those instances, though. I’m talking about Sombra.

Really?
How many characters can hit her in the 0.65 seconds required?
The only ones that can are hitscan heroes.

You’re not getting the point. A loud minority is not necessarily greater than a silent majority. Do you go make threads about every character you think doesn’t need changes of any kind just to reaffirm that they are balanced?

No. People don’t do that because it’s just a waste of time.

Actually pretty much everything that has any range can save for maybe Firestrike or Symm’s orbs.

I will defend the nerfs. I play a lot of Sombra. The .1s Leniency was too much with the increased Hack speed, which resulted in Tracer getting hacked in the middle of Recall or off the screen, or a Reinhardt getting hacked through a shield. Removing this for better LOS checks is fine, like it was for Roadhog.

As for the 2 second cooldown on damage, that’ll be fine too. It helps heroes like Lucio with bad fire rates stop Sombra from hacking him in the middle of a reload. The cooldown when interupted by damage is okay for team fights, and it helps people fight Sombra. I don’t like that it’ll be a thing, but it’s the only channeled ability that doesn’t go on cooldown if interrupted. Imagine if Doomfist could punch immediately after getting his punch interrupted by flashbang, or if Roadhog’s hook’s cooldown reset on a LOS error. Now, there should be a damage threshold on Sombra to stop shotgun snipers and random DPS from out of the blue, but that should have been there this entire time anyway.
